I've been running PR3s ever since they came available and am very pleased with their longevity and performance.
After Toowoomba NatRally I was caught out and needed a new rear tyre on short notice in Coffs Harbour on the way home. I couldn't get a Michelin and settled for a Dunlop RoadSmart.
My front PR3 is coming up for replacement, and I am wondering what issues I may encounter if I fit a PR3 to the front, with the RoadSmart rear. Will I be better to fit a RoadSmart to the front to give a matched pair?

:think1 Pete if you put a RoadSmart on the front you could write a review ,, :think1 compare your thoughts Michelin V.s Dunlop. :thumb

My off in the wet was on a Bridgestone front and Shinko rear. I won't mix tyres again.

I mix tyres all the time . . . Never had any problems . . . But then again I ride like a woman . .

I did put a set of Dunlop Roadsmart 2 tyres on at 35,000 ks and I got rear=12,000k, front=18,500ks - they seemed to hold the road well . . And I was happy with the rear ks . . I normally only get 8 or 9 k out of the rear tyre . .

I have exactly that at the moment with no problems.. and i've ridden through some horrible rain & crap at times...
The Shinko front will be going on in the coming weeks now the old bridgestone is worn out...
I don't think there would really be a problem as long as the tyres are in good condition.. Not age-hardened like a lot of fronts can get.

My tyres are never on long enough to get age hardened. :grin

My RoadSmart 2 front at 18,500 ks was only on for less then 12 months, so had not quite hardened . .

I ran a 023 front for a few thousand k's when we put a PR2 on the rear in Victoria a few years ago.....no issues presented, but it was in the back of my head in a few vibrant riding locations :think1

a few vibrant riding locations :think1
What are they??
Shiny road surfaces?
Corrugations?
Moments of epiphany?

I think Chris means the roads that I dig him in the ribs after the pedal scratches the road :nahnah

I used to run pilot 2s on the GSFand ST. Last count on the Road Smart 2 was 19500ks on the rear when I change the rear to another Rs2 on the ST. The front still has heaps on it. New RS2 on the rear for my trip north back to for a week ++

I've always run mixed tyres and not had any stability problems except when I had a metzeler Z4 on the front which was the most unstable tyre I've ever used.
-
I've run Dunlops since I bought the ST, no problems wet or dry running.

I now have a pair of RoadSmarts, so I look forward to reporting my impressions.
