So who's getting a new FJR? Not me. I'll wait for the new ST. Shouldn't be more than a few years away.

The conclusions are very incisive.  Despite its age, the ST outperformed the two much more modern bikes in several areas that we like.  One, its range, two, its comfort and three, its handling.
The other two have better power, technology, weight and price.  The ST loses out on its instrumentation, lack of heated grips and cruise control.

The bottom line- pick up a reasonably priced late model, spend a few bucks on a few farkles, and you have a better bike than the Kawasaki 1400 and as good as the latest FJR.

www.motorcycle.com is not a bad site to look at. Reviews are usually well balanced. The ST13 has always come up ok on many fronts over a number of years - look at the test archive.  I usually get a regular email about new tests, but have not gotten one yet about this.

Imagine if we could get those bikes at $16 to 18K..how many more new bikes would they sell here?  The Triumph Trophy is $18k in the US, and some have siad that is way too expensive as not much less that a Goldwing. Imagine if they had to pay $28k for the Trophy and $36K for a Goldwing like here!

Very interesting review, nice to see the ST still setting the pace on the 'touring' side of the sport-touring class. I see myself as a bit of a sport rider and am more than happy with the way this bike performs. Very intersting to see how many people who soley ride sport bikes then get on an ST and say the same thing, that they were "very impressed with its handling..."

I tend to agree that an update to bikes - as superficial and cosmetic as they often are (- eg heated grips? digital tacho?) is sometimes needed. But considering the ST13 came out in 2003(?) - it still looks and feels striking - great lines, great feel, great pace, great cornering, great two-up, great eye catching looks and quiet. Perfection?!

The video compares the three bikes and they make a lot of good points about the ST and then come to the wrong conclusion.

Definitely high time Honda raised the standard and I hope the VFR isn't it.

I've just sold my honda cbr1100xx for a 2004 ST, back to back there's not as much difference as one would think,
The weight is the biggest difference,  and acceleration . ST handles surprizingly well.
