That's tough news!  Hopefully the doc is confident it's not an aggressive metastasis.
I'm on board with prayers also.     ++

All the best Pete, thinking of you.

Just a word to the wise for others the PSA test is controversial at the best. You can have a high PSA just from riding a motorbike!
If you have symptoms or a family history of prostate cancer you should insist on a manual examination. Not pleasant but far more reliable.

That was an old post Trev and the disease has progressed since having the full round of radiotherapy treatment in Aug-Sept last year.  It's now got a toe-hold in one lung, and after meeting with an oncologist a couple of weeks ago, the plan has moved on from treating in an attempt to rid my body of the cancer, to managing it.   We are off next week on a two month 4WD holiday to the Kimberley, and when we get back I'll have another review to see if I need to start some aggressive treatment to reduce the cancer.  Currently I have no symptoms.

Thanks Brock, but our plan is up the middle, a lap of the Kimberley and back down the guts, but taking lots of time to smell the roses all along the way.

Pete

Only just caught up with this thread, so all the best for the Kimberly trip.  Not sure about the roses, but there's plenty of other things to smell up there (we did Gibb River Road about 30 years ago) and make sure you check out the night sky!

Cheers

I'm disappointed to advise that my prostate cancer, which made a reappearance in my right lung a little while back, is continuing to grow and spread more quickly.  I'm having another PSA test in a few weeks time to confirm that the rapid rise in level over the last three months was not a aberrant reading, but it seems that my readings have turned the corner on the exponential curve.   It's time to stop monitoring and get serious.  I'll be having more scans to get a pre treatment baseline for what it's doing, and then anticipate starting both androgen deprivation therapy and chemo in a couple of months.  As I said before, treatment is not expected to get rid of the cancer, but will keep it at bay for a while.  Please keep Chris and I in your thoughts and prayers, as we continue to journey with this bloody disease.  I'm still feeling fit and strong and have no symptoms, but know that will change.
