Hit 39c on the way home today (4pm in locker Valley) and it was ok on the ST.  It is fairly dry air so as long as you keep moving you are fine :-)

A mesh jacket on days like that helps with keeping cool.

Had a nice easy drive in thick traffic after a delayed start.

Got to Woodford at 11:40 an and found a sizeable gathering of the usual friendly faces and a few new ones.

Thanks to everyone who expressed obvious pleasure at seeing me in one piece. I was glad I could make it.

It was good to see Gnome made it despite a forced detour.

Crocman's indicator Farkles are super impressive. If I still had my bike I'd certainly be having them. (and I thought I had no more to do)

I was also surprised how pleased I was to see my old top box still trundling around atop Shiney's bike. :grin

The group was larger than I expected and unfortunately I didn't get to see everyone. My apologies.

Again Sabie had to endure a tiresomely long ride to get there but I think PC and Marion, and tding may have slightly beaten him for longest ride to the RTE.

So to all who braved the great heat today and turned up and made it another successful RTE, thank you very much.
Cheers,
Gary

My day started @ 4:30 a.m., for some reason, could be an age thing..... So after covering the usual morning duties I fired up the beaSTie and set off 6:45am, first stop fuel and check tyres.
I zig zagged my way towards Woodford without any predetermined route, just letting it unfold as I went. I arrived at Di Agular just after 8am (way to early ) so what better to do then a spirited jaunt over Mnt Mee to the dayboro bakery for a sausage roll and take it all in from the cool comfort of their verandah while of course listening in on the conversations that surround me. Motorcyclist do waffle on with some bs.
About 9:30ish I'm back on my (shiney new) bike and back over the mountain in time for the meet n greet......dispensing a couple of sporty riders along the way :grin
New and older members made me feel welcomed the instance I arrived....thank you folks.....and what a top venue cudoes to the organisers.
My return to the glorious bayside was relatively uneventful stopping just the once to rehydrate in this unseasonally 38-40* heatwave.
Once home it was straight in to the shower for a cool down and air con on a more reasonable 24*.
I jus wanna ride my bike

Thanks for the recognition Gadget, even though there was months of planning I think Deisel takes the short reward, but a round of  :clap of applause to PC and those who travelled some distance on such a hot day...

I got home around 3 pm turned on the aircon and had a nanna nap till 5pm.

There may have been some confusion with the buzzers, but i found the food I had was very good and enjoyed it very much..

Was good to meet some new folk today and catch up with an old stalwart that we haven't seen for quite a while, namely Brian. Welcome back to the ST fold. A great venue as has previously been expressed. 22 attendees but the amount of food that was ordered could have fed 30.  :eat
Getting wind in my hair while I still have some.

Ian (Mikan13), Simon and I met up at 8.00am at Highfields BP.  Ian had ridden up from Ipswich via Murphy's Creek.  We set off up the New England Highway and turned off at Peachey, and down to Perseverence Dam for our first stop.  Hot weather, so drinking plenty of water (Simon even had to overflow behind a convenient gum). On to Esk.  The countryside is looking superb with the rain we've had.  Morning tea at Esk Bakery.  Getting really hot.
On to Woodford via Brisbane Valley Highway, through Harlin, then the D'Agular highway.  We thought of taking the scenic route past the Somerset dam, but time and tourists changed our plan.
We arrived at Woodford and did a short tour of the town, before we realized that someone had moved the pub to the other side of the road.  Really hot.
Drank more water before attacking the Bundaberg Ginger Beer.  Diesel and others were ensconced on the top verandah watching the antics of the passing traffic.  There were heaps of bikes on the road.
The meal was really nice.  I ordered lunch with Batman, but he did not reappear for autographs. Great to see everyone.
Left soon after 1pm with Ian and Simon.  Stopped at Esk for Simon to fill up his shiney new Triumph.  Ian then struck south to Ipswich and simon and I headed back up the range.  When we got to Ravensbourne, with all the trees and the elevation, the temperature dropped about 3 or 4 degrees.
Really good day.  Thanks to Shiney for the organization
Phil

Thanks for the mention, Gadget.
As already reported the food was great and so was the company.
Great to get to perv on what others have done to their bikes, and I think some bar risers and a lowered seat are on the shopping list for Xmas.
Only downside was discovering that I have a sliver of exposed skin between helmet and jacket which lead to sunburn that looks like a red racing stripe across my neck.
See you next time,  Gnome.
