Requirement for a Rear Shock for an ST1300
« on: July 22, 2013, 02:00:24 PM »
Hi All, whilst up at Biloela one of the newer members asked me if I knew of any good source for a Rear Shock for his 2005 ST1300. His is terminally stuffed so he needs a new one but has no idea of where to get one. I have had a look round and couldn't come up with anything really useful, so I thought I'd throw the question out to the Club to put some good ideas forward. The member in question is really technically challenged when it comes to the Internet, and therefore is not really able to drive this question forwards himself, so I (and he) would appreciate any clever thoughts or possible known sources for him to get a replacement for his Shocker, enter them into this subject and I'll ring him with the results shortly.

Cheers all

If he's in Brissie there is a well known shock rebuilder in Moss St Springwood.  I could dig out his name if required.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Here is one that is Australian made down in Whyalla

ikonsuspension.com.au

I got my progressive springs from them and will be getting my new rear shock next month.

I would suggest a phone call or an email to them or use there contact us page.

The Guy in Brisbane is called Steve Wood @ suspension improvements. He rebuilt and revalved the rear shock on my 13 2 years ago. He does a great job. Just tell him the type of riding your weight etc. and he will take it from there. Cost was about $550 from memory.
His phone no is 3208 0082 mobile 0412 632 497 address unit 3 no 49 randall st slacks creek.
The cost included removing the shock from the bike.

                                                                   Cheers Greg
ps you can send your shock to him and he will post it back
the older i get the better i was

There is also RAD in Brisbane does the same thing http://www.radmotorcycleshockyrepairs.com.au/  The results have been varied from the two I know of being done for the ST11, as the rebuild might not last as long as the OEM did.
