Doing it tough
« on: July 21, 2018, 08:23:32 PM »
Possibly the toughest weekend i have put in for a while .
The Big Honda  :dred11 is still missing cush rubbers , was hoping that they would have been here yesterday , but no . Replaced the back pads fired the big girl up and seriously thought of putting the old parts back in to cut some mountainous laps .
I resisted the urge and took Debbies new wheels for a spin instead   the big Yamaha hasnt got a spit on mine .
Hope you are all well and cant wait to do some riding again soon

I just have lots of parts left over.

Funny thing you should say that .
Slaved over the Big Honda late Thursday afternoon to refit the swing arm and final drive  in prep for Fridays arrival of the remaining parts'.
The swing arm was a chore to say the least but i kept my cool as its my bike . Bottom rear shocker bolt was a shocker , took at least 30 mins to put in but persevered .
The final dr was easy so i refitted the 10mm bolts on the lhs of swing arm for the rear brake line took forever ,,, felt like accidently loosing the last one near the swing arm pivot point,,,,, but preserved .
to my horror when i went to stand up i put my hand on the connecting gear from the from the tail shaft to the final dr  , it was late and i was tired , seriously wanted to walk away and start again on friday .
Sat back down and pulled it apart again , fitted the missing  piece and reassembled again . The stinkin shocky bolt gave me the mcshits again , but manage to keep my composure and finish with no left over parts .
Not only do i love riding the Big Girl , it is extremely satisfying to be able to repair as well with the aid of the forum .

Been waiting 4 weeks for an ignition switch. Ordered it the day Honda Australia wide decided to shut down for 2 weeks to install an upgrades parts computer system. Was supposed to be up and running 2 week ago, but isn't due to teething problems with the new computers. So, like me, will have to wait for Honda to get its act together and sort out its problems. So frustrating.

Cheers, Hobs

Might have been faster if you ordered from the US and saved some cash as well.

Hi Alan,

where from the US.

cheers,

Hobs
Parztilla https://www.partzilla.com/ seems to be the best.

https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/2000/st1100a-a-abs-ii/handlebar-top-bridge

You won't be able get outside the US coloured parts. Another point is that our e.g. 1999 1100A will be a 2000 1100A A (US) or 1100A AC (California) over there. California gets a slightly different model to the rest of the US due to pollution laws.

Just to give you an idea to compare to a local dealer for pricing.

Ignition switch N/A (item 2) but the lock set is (item 1) OEM Part Number: 35010-MAJ-A30

Shipping to: Australia

Subtotal: $154.80
Shipping & Handling: $27.99
Tax: $0.00
Total: $US182.79 or $AUD246.29 to your door.

Thanks Alan for your reply. How do I know that the correct part for my bike (1996 ST1100P) is the second number one, 35010-MAJ-A30
and not 06350-MAJ-505, or 35010-MAJ-A31 one ?

How do I know which one is right?

Cheers,
Hobs

This is the only Police model listed https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/2003/st1100p-a/handlebar-top-bridge

Item 2 is available but I have no idea which one

The part for Australia comes up as unavailable at Partzilla- local parts and prices in image from http://www.peterhillhonda.com.au/
