Since this is my first FarRide, which I'm eligible to do as an FR12 Gold, I don't want to mess up times at the end.  I plan on leaving home at around 1600hrs on Friday, with a stopover at Port Augusta for a sleep.  I am assuming that I can complete the ride before the 1600hrs log-in, so long as I have the FR12 Gold Log completed, and a finish fuel docket from the Border Village servo showing my completion time inside 24 hours from my start docket.

Sounds fine .

Pete I did an FR1200gold in 2012 to the Border Run.
Start location was Barraba Thursday morning and the FR1200gold was finished at Yunta Thursday evening as there was not an early start time. Only a requirement to do 1200km within 24 hrs and document it.
On that trip we lobbed into BV Friday night which was great. Did a 700km day bimble into WA and back to BV for the afternoon Saturday.

Simply within a 24 time window of the start docket is all that's required for the BR

Remember the check-in window is local time of destination.
BV has its own time zone.

Thanks Gatey.   Login time is scheduled as 1600 Aust Central Standard Time, which is normal SA time, so I can run SA time for the whole trip.

You have to do at at least once, but from Queensland a bit far to go. I think this is my fifth, three on the ST1100 and second on the Trophy

One day I'll do Border Run.

When we go next week it'll be the first time I've gone to the border and returned. Usually I just stop for the inspection and head off to places further west.

Fork seals etc. done earlier in the day so thinking bike is ready for the border but just after I left the dealer I noticed nail or something had punctured the rear tyre (about 20 mm in from side wall). Probably picked it up on a RH bend So had to take bike back to dealer. Rang Heather to come over and pick me as I couldn't get home. Bike is in shop until Friday and a new tyre fitted then. So, two new tyres for the Border run.

I have two new tyres on, new front brake pads, it is raining so first scrub in time is on Tuesday when leaving for the Border. Always seems to work out this way.

Just packed up ready to go Tuesday morning. Looks like a cold start, possibility of rain, at least for this week. Bring on further North! as I have packed shorts and thongs

I will see some of you at the Border, and a few others on the way around.  My basic goal points and dates are here http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=9645.0 but I will have a better idea of more exact dates a week out from them, as I have places in between and allocated time in those places that may be shorter or longer.

I may be pulling out at the last minute. I applied for work on last Thursday and went for an interview this morning. Felt like I was riding in a freezer when I left for Adelaide at 6 AM in the dark, fog and frost.

Short story is that the labour hire consultant thinks I'm the best of the ones he's seen so half the battle is over; whether the company I might be working for agrees is another matter. Until I get a phone call saying to start work I'm all set for the ride.

This will be my fourth border run in a row, two on the ST. Well worth thinking about at least once. Usually I have had to rush back to do other things, so I think this will be the most memorable - I hope for the right reasons!

A start docket is not required for Border Run, you only have to check in during the 4 hour window.
Confirmation page says I need a start docket for the beginning of the 24 hour period.

Both Heather and I are registered.

Correct Allan.

As is always the case with any FR the intention is to aim for the time window. This occasion is just a wider time window.
Tis a very loose FR from the norm. If your eligable to register for a 1200k ride its a good one to do that on, particularly for east coasters.
E-mail from Clint

Hi All

Bit of a throwback to regular FarRides in that a start docket within 24hrs of checkin is required for those rides.  This showed up in your Welcome email.

To clarify, the Border Run is more relaxed and no Start Docket is necessary.  You just need to checkin between lunchtime and 16:00 local time.

You will also need to affirm that you have done at least the FarRide distance/time you registered for, on the way there or home again.

Apologies for the mixup – specially to Peter who is now getting lots of messages.

Cheers

Clint

All set for us to head off for tomorrow. Rechecked tyres after the one fitted last week and found rear at 36 psi (same as front) so glad I checked them plus the trailer ones. Weren't going to take the trailer but need to take the bedding for our 2 night stay in Ceduna and it can stay in Ceduna for the last 480 Km.
