hiyas, has anyone seen/used one of these? Any thoughts/opinions?

Hi Rob,
Looks to be an interesting intermediate solution to the motorcycle trailer swivel hitch question, but, does it meet Australian Safety Standards?
I suppose the next question would be... could you get it certified, by your State's Transport/Roads Authority? Cheers, John.

My thoughts are it would provide double articulation and basically do what the ball is designed to do.
My main concern is when you apply the brakes, it would flop forward and send a jolt through the bike. Which if big enough mid corner, could unseat the back wheel.

Not if the unit was mounted so that there would only be a sideways flop.

Import costs might be an issue.

After seeing what happened with Joe's trailer after his accident (trailer stayed upright) I am firmly convinced a full pivoting hitch is ideal.

That's one of the reasons a rotating coupling is recommended for bikes

The pivoting coupling on the Elite seams to do all that's needed for us.....but if I was looking for a new coupling I would seriously investigate a mini version of the off-road coupling I have used made by Tregg :think1

my hitch swivels 360 deg and its a lot heavier than those in the USA trailers

"The Freedom Ball is a 1-7/8 " ball hitch assembly..."
1-7/8 " = 47.625mm, not 50mm... maybe something else to consider.
