I have the Sena SR10 and am trying to find the best location to mount it.
It would need to have the GME TX6150, PTT Button & Music player cables going to it.
Would prefer it to be permanently mounted and out of sight from theft.
I would like it to be able to be charged through the accessories circuit but could be turned off easily but still be able to run it on its own battery.
From posts I have seen on the ST Owners forum’s the front pockets can get too hot for this unit.
I noticed ST2UP had his mounted under the rear seat but “guess” it might not be turned off after a ride?
Any advice & photos for mounting & wiring would be appreciated.

Mine is under the rear seat and using the vehicle power cord supplied with the unit plugged into a cigarette lighter socket (also under the seat) wired into the quartet harness (on with both ignition and accessory key positions) so the unit is turned on and off with ignition key so no need to take seat off to cut power to the hub.

G'day Pete, under the rear seat same as Stroppy.....and is activated by the ignition switch :like
Just had to cut'n'shut the PTT lead to extend to 1.5 mts..... :thumb

This sounds like the place then.
Sorry I am not much of a whiz kid when it comes to electronics.
So I am guessing when the bike is running the unit is charging.
Will the unit ever have time to discharge when the bike is running, apart from when the bike is turned off or removing the seat and unplugging?
By plugging it into the Quartet harness this must turn the unit back on?
So guessing along with the cigarette lighter connection plugged in under the seat you would need to join another 2 wires back to the Quartet harness to run on accessories?

When the SR10 is connected to bike power via the cig lighter adapter through the accessory circuit, it detecs power available and turns on. It runs off bike power, not internal battery. As long as it runs off the bike, it will never run off its own battery, which will always be charged.
The SR10 battery will never discharge.
connected to the quartet harness, the SR10 will turn on when the key is turned on, unless its connected to the batt live line. (Not a good idea)

I have made 1, the next is for Gavo. I can make one for you as well.
If you work out what you need, I can custom make a lead to order. For example, if you want to use accessory power to switch high power 12V relay in the nose, and run lines to the duck tail, then it can be done.

bought a GME 6150,on the salesmen advice that it could charge 12volt without the desktop cradle,well he was wrong it needs the cradle.
took it back today still in its box and asked for an upgrade to an icom ic-41 which i was happy to pay the extra.but they refused but were will to sell me an icom if i waited a week.
so does anyone want to buy a gme 6150 brand new still in its box, i bought an icom from presrige communications.
dont bother shopping at maroochydore car sound.

They should have taken it back, as the item they sold you was not fit for your purpose, especially as they gave you wrong information. Be aware, a lot of hand held radios wont transmit when being charged. Its also my experience that a hand held is not as good as a car mount type UHF.
The hand held (well mine anyway) had to have the squelch turned up pretty high.

Hand held aren't selective enough for external antennas either. Selectivity means the ability to reject neighboring channels.
A car one designed for an external antenna is better.
