Tip over bars are well designed. I have picked mine up by myself once. Back to the bike and use your knees.

That was my method, but loose gravel and a lack of body strength didn't help.  That aside it was a good ride.

Very sharp colour scheme.  Big jump in size from the Versys!

Actually being lower to the ground it doesn't feel that much heavier (if at all) and it glides through the curves.  Might be a different story if I have to pick it up off the ground.  Hopefully I never have to.

Well, I hope the day would never came but this morning the front wheel slid out as I tried to u-turn and then over corrected.  A combination of roll bars and the lump in the ground and little speed meant it didn't go completely over and there's not a mark on the bike.  Did I have the strength to pick it up?  No, not by myself, but a passer by did help me right it.  Lesson learned - if I have to turn around the photo's not worth it.  Either that or come back another day.

No scratches but it happened on an ant infested area and I well and truly got bitten.  Aggressive buggers they were.  They manged to get under my clothing as welll and the last one bit me in my gloves about an hour later.

but a passer by did help me right it.

By the looks of the road, you were somewhat lucky that said passer by passed by. It could have been a bit of a wait.

It was the Old Princes Highway between Murray Bridge and Monarto.  I didn't noticed it on the day as I was too focused on trying to sort myself out but camera footages shows a few vehicles went by.  I think the biggest hindrance was the loose gravel and trying to get a good grip on the ground.  That said, I was very grateful for the help I received.

The ST1300's side stand slipped into the soft soil on the outskirts of Yackandandah a coupla years back.  I'd stopped at a school bus stop to put on my wets, the surface was damp, soft and slippery - no way I could mange getting it upright.

I tried to flag down a few car, no one was interested.  It took about 15 minutes for a twin cab ute with four burley farm boys (6' 4" & 120 kg I reckon) to stop.  They picked the bike up like it was toy - thanks fellas.

Rego for mine are:

Goldwing $284·23 + CTP goes to $394·64
Versys $284·78 + CTP goes to $401·07
Xmax $272·84 + CTP goes to #379·88*

*this was the previous financial year whereas the top two are more recent.

I got the Xmax renewal today.  The registration's gone up to $276·89 but the CTP has gone down to a combined total of #370·32.

Gunzel: noun - a person who has an interest in trains or trams - sometimes to the exclusion of all else. Such people often lack basic social skills. The term originated in Victoria in the mid 1970s, and was then highly derogatory (equivalent of USA foamite/foamer or UK anorak).

I think you are a little harsh on yourself Bodo  :thumb

You left out gricer.  In Japanese we say densha otaku(電車お宅).  I thought gunzel originated in Sydney based on trains and was derogatory back then, but these days often covers buses as well.  It has probably lost a lot of its derogatory status due to people happily using the term to identify themselves.

The scenic route to Macclesfield saw me traverse a few roads that the Kwaka has never been:

1. Brinkley Road from Murray Bridge to Mulgundawa (I've ridden this on a Firenze before buying the Versys)

2. Kangaroo Road and Ferries Mcdonald Road from Langhorne Creek to Monarto South (first time on any bike)

3. The sealed part of Chauncey's Line Road in Hartley (again first time on any bike) where I took this.

The drone came out at Australian Salt, Brinkley.

Passed through Edenhope on the way home from Hamilton today, taking the same course I took to the Harrow Ride To Eat in 2018.  The big fish is looking a bit worse for wear.
