Not sure about the no-refund policy. I already give to 2 charities and don't need a 3rd.
May just do some shopping around.

Yeah I agree that the possibility of losing a chunk of cash due to unforseen circumstances is not attractive.  Most places will let you cancel without cost as long as it's not at the last minute.

Looking at booking- cabin $465 (less 10%) but no cancellations acceptable!

Not sure about the no-refund policy.
May just do some shopping around.

I don't know where Biggles got his no-cancel policy from because it states:

CANCELLATION FEES
If you cancel your reservation with us, cancellation fees are payable as follows:
Low & Shoulder Seasons: Cancellations within 7 days of the arrival date incur a cancellation fee equivalent to the total booking tariff. Cancellations 8 days or more before arrival incur a cancellation fee equivalent to one night of the total booking tariff, being the minimum deposit paid.

And to be fair after COVID stopped us from going there twice already I fully understand why they have it in place.

Probably more accurate to say 'no refund' policy rather than 'no cancellation'.  Which to me means that I have to pay one night's fee at time of booking, and if I need to cancel (even if it's months before the event) I will lose that.

Replying to all the above since my last post-
I'm looking at 3 nights, leaving Monday.
The info I have was ambiguous, but I agree with Marcus's info, that you only lose your deposit 8 days or more before.  One week before and they charge you the whole whack (which is a bit savage- but that's their prerogative).
There's also an implied waiver if the late cancellation is unavoidable- for instance an accident or sudden sickness.
So we can add Mrs Biggles to my listing and we'll be in a single bedroom cabin from Friday to Monday.  I doubt Mudgee is as fascinating as Mannum where I happily spent all day Sunday touristing.

I can't see anything that implies a waiver for emergencies, but in the interest of living dangerously (which is what we do as bikers anyway) I'll be booking a cabin there for Ruth and myself. Probably for 3 nights so we can have a look around on Sunday before we head back.

I'm quoting the lady who took my booking- "We take the circumstances into consideration".  So for what it's worth, there's the verbal comfort.

Just to add to the confusion...I just looked on Booking.com/Big 4 Mudgee and it says "Non-refundable" but...then I looked at the Big4 Q & A's and found this:

What is refund policy

If you cancel outside of 7 days before arrival $50.00 will be deducted from your deposit
with the remaining refunded and if you cancel within 7 days it will be a full loss of deposit.

I booked a 2 bedroom cabin for 3 nights, Friday to Sunday nights inclusive. They let me use the deposit credit from my 2021 booking . . $143, so I am happy with that. I think I am up for $155 per night, but could be less with a OzSTOC bargained discount or my Big4 membership.

I'm booked.  When I rang all the Standard 1 bedroom cabins were gone (all to OzSTockers) so I had to rough it and grab the last of the deluxe cabins.  They do still have other cabins though, so there's room for even more OzSTockers. Should be a terrific turnout.

Talk at yesterday's RTE is that this is because general public bookings are on-hold to allow OzSTOCers to book, but only until Jan '23.

Sent off an email will see what they come back with booking for two

Yeah, that should work.  Let us know.

I always call the Hotel, CV Park, Motel etc direct to make a booking. The Bookings.com and the like only get an allocation of accommodation and so one quite often gets that msg about nothing left when there actually is. They also hassle you by saying last one available - never use them to actually make a booking.

I use booking.com regularly, particularly if there are clear, suitable cancellation conditions, and then if the cancellation date is very close to the stay (sometimes even on the day).  Got fingers burnt a coupla times when booking directly with the establishment, never with booking.com.

I always call the park to book for rally. I don't trust websites to be updated in realtime.

I'd advise calling them instead of email as there will be a lag time on them replying
