HISS key reprograming gone wrong?
« on: November 14, 2016, 07:25:56 PM »
Maybe someone can help. Earlier this year, I bought an immaculate 2003 St1300.

It came with only 1 key, so following instructions from another forum, I made a reprogramming cable, and tried to reprogram a new key.

The HISS light did all the things it was supposed to do, according to the instructions, and I followed them exactly. According to the light flashes, the new key was reprogramed.

Problem is, it appears to have wiped the information from my key, because no key now works.

I was under the impression that the new key would be programed to the key in the ignition when starting the process.

Was there a master key that came with the bike, that a new one could be only programed from? I assumed the key I got was a master key.

Is there anybody in Australia that can reprogram ecu to the key I have, or is there a workaround.

I believe there is a pink wire from the key ring gear, that feeds a certain voltage to the ecu, as determined by the chip, which in turn, turns on the spark and fuel pump, is this true.

One day you will wake up and there won't be anymore time to do the things you've always wanted so do them NOW!!!
Remember there are 7 days in a week and Someday isn't one of them!

It appears that the key still works with the HISS, as the light goes out after a few seconds when turned on, but the bike still will not start, maybe something else has gone wrong.

All fixed, did think I was going to be up for new ECM plus keys etc.

However it was a simple fix, although it took a while to find it.

Apparently, the fuel tank prop rod moved out of its clip, and was reinserted, which in turn partially disconected a two pin plug down near the ECM (it comes from the coil).

New key programed and working, and a little bit wiser.
