Title: A BIG Thank You for Help with my STeed
Post by: Pezzz on May 19, 2014, 07:17:31 PM
I Just wanted to say a big, quick thank you to Wombat and Yorkie for their assistance with the work done on my bike over the past couple of weeks.
Went to Beverley for RTE on Saturday and the result ????   :like

Background here is that since I bought my bike on the very first RTE I noticed a slight slip in the clutch. After procrastinating and just riding for the next 6 months or so I finally got all my bits together to give her a proper overhaul.
Wombat offered the use of his shed for me to work in with him and Yorkie kindly allowed the use of his bike lift.  :beer :beer
Objective was to replace clutch plates and check all was ok.  :thumb
We got a little side tracked  :fp
While clutch was out, only a few bolts to do timing belt so do that as well.
While we were at it and had partially stripped, we may as well replace all coolant hoses and check the right angle pipes under the carby block.
Replace factory (Ball) Stem Head Bearing with tapered bearings.
While shocks were out we may as well replace oil in them.
While playing with fluids we may as well replace rear drive oil and while we were at the rear wheel we replaced the rear pads (front pads were good).
While tupperware was off we also rerouted some of the wiring I had done and changed switches activating the spot lights. We also put all dash power through switch 4 now.

As usual when doing something of this magnitude you get in the zone and then realise half the job is done with no pics.
I got a few pics and these are below.

Tupperware Off

Once again, my deepest appreciation to Wombat and Yorkie, I could not have done this without your help and I shudder at the thought of the cost and workmanship if I had sent it into a "shop".

(It seems the :chocies smiley has gone...   :'( )

No chance. Pit Crew and I are getting out of town for the weekend and away from phone and business.  ;-* It is getting very heavy lately with clients being slack and then demanding we do our part immediately  :OldMan I am going through the bike doing all the little things while she is apart. Doing headstem tonight and maybe look at tappet clearance. Need a new power connection for UHF and new front brake pads. Discs are 4.5 and 5.0. I am taking some photos but if anyone requires photos call out. With Pezzz's (three zeds) help everything is moving fast.  :crazy
Thanks also go to SToogle (Yorkie) for all advice and wisdom.
Cue is the target ride but coffee maybe late next week and Margaret River for test ride  :think1
Photos may be coming when I charge the battery  :fp

Cheers

That's some awesome work there fellas.  That is what makes this such a great place seeing people help each other like this... fantastic!

Looks like a lot of effort to get all that done, wouldn't like to know what a shop would charge!

Me neither. They wanted more for supply of clutch plates only than what mine with all other parts cost. Then about $400 just to fit clutch. We did so much more work than that. And bike running really well.
