Knock sensor !!
« on: September 18, 2017, 06:10:56 PM »
So the last coupla months, the FI light has been flashing on occasions, mainly when I accelerate hard... which is when you would expect to operate... today I pulled the side fairing off to have a look....

The plug came off, but broken inside... obviously due to heat etc..  I had to glue it back together

So I've ordered new plugs, will replace both sides whilst I'm there....

The plug was broken on the inside, allowing the pin just to pull out when I pulled in the wire...

Did you get the plugs from your local friendly dealer?  I'll be very interested to hear how the new plugs go, because the dreaded FI light has been coming on on my bike for some time and I'm nearly at the point of ordering a new ECM, which here in Oz is between $1500-2000!

Cheers

Mmm, to be honest, I'm not very hopeful !! But I have to eliminate possibilities, and I also don't want a broken plug on my bike... the plugs crack with the heat from the exhaust and the engine... mines a 2002, after 15 years it was bound to happen...
you can't buy these plugs from Honda, I import them, along with several others...
I'll replace the plug and see what happens...

It will be interesting to see how the plug attaches to the lead.  Sometimes the lead is integral with these kinds of fittings.   :||||
But in that case, you probably can't buy the plug by itself.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Yes, you can buy the plug by itself, you just have to know where to look... ;)

Connector can be found here, it will need a decent crimp tool to do the job correctly, unless you can carefully extract the pins.

I have bought many connetors and relaya here.
