My first impression was that it would be a speed trail as well because TT is short for Time Trial.  Knowing the Lions road well, having grown up at its southern end, I don't think the road is suitable for time trails anyway.  Even though it has been greatly improved in recent months with road works on the NSW side, it is still not perfect.

I still would like to do it, but have to way up the risk of damage to the bike from some yahoo thinking it is a speed trail, taking me and my bike out so close to the OzSTOC SS1600K.

It appears to have been a success- 200 participants despite the glitches is excellent.
The accident ironically, happened down on the "flat", after the challenging mountain section.
There are a few very tricky corners when you're not expecting them after thinking you've done the hard part.

Good report with lots of pix here:

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

It's a good positive report on the event, despite the nasty accident.

Looks like the Qld police had a licence check at the Campsite just to be annoying.  Couldn't help themselves (3:00 in the vid).  A valid licence had to be produced to participate.  It's a wonder the Police at the two bikes and car at Rathdowney didn't ping him for not coming to a dead stop at the stop sign.

I think the Police at the Running creek Camp site had more to do with it being School holidays and RBT.  Check the device in the Policeman's left hand.
Cheers,
