Hiya Marcus...sorry 'bout not getting back sooner, but twas not until this arvo I was sure my bike would be a starter, but it will be, albeit still a little dodgy in the suspension department...I have read you'll be in motorway mode, so what time will you envisage getting to the BP servo opposite the Calder Park Dragstrip?

If U pick me up, this'll will be the best place on account I will need fuel.

Just got my first granddaughter born today in Brissy,  so I'll be heading off after lunch for a visit.

I have just booked in to the Walwa pub for Saturday night.  $35 including breakfast. I will report back what it is like, and I will check out how many rooms they have, room for a group etc as it could be a good place for future events or for groups passing through (say to Ballarat). I have eaten there a few times before and it is pretty good.

Means I have to ride over the GAR though :)  and Snowy Mountains Highway home..but them's the breaks.

Thanks Diesel. Actually I've been a member of the Banyo old bastards for nearly 20 years now.
First granddaughter after 3 grandsons so everyone is a bit excited.
Had a great ride. Made it to Bombala for the night.

I heard you made it home the same day and chose not to spend Saturday night in a $600 apartment in town...so I guess you wont be donning the complementary white fluffy slippers you would have gotten around the camp site in Ballarrat  next year then 

I think that if that was Tanya's first 2-up trip that clocked up 900+ clicks, perhaps she now deserves an all expenses weekend away in Kuta beach...having now such intimate knowledge gleamed over 12 hours of observing the reverse side of that insect incrusted piece of compound plastics you post pics of.

My bike is covered in bugs everywhere.  Only a few got through to the visor, but the other million means another clean up.  I did not realise until I got home how bad the bugs were.  But better than hitting to 4 roos that were on the Cann River Road...in early morning when they should have been elsewhere.

Nar Tania did really well. That was her longest ride so far, and apart from the last 1/2 hour and the cold early morning she said she loved it. She actually said she doesn't know what people bitch about with these fair ride posts I show her hahaha.

Great to put a few faces to names, just a struggled to match some names and forum names.

Last minute change of plans with pre-ride meeting location changed due to reports of water in petrol at original location.  Sorry to the forum member who I sped past at the original location.

Anyway got away on time, avoided the first "road safety camera" on the Heidelberg-Kinglake Road at Wattle Glen, stopped for coffee and cake at Noojee.

Arrived Metung a little after 1:00pm, met some of the forum members, Saaz, Marcus & Tania, Nigel, Mick, Greencan, Hendo (was that you I missed at Doreen, I suppose I owe you two beers?), and others (sorrry 'bout the names).

Good lunch, good company, cold beers, great views, great sunset, lost wallet, found wallet, good bed, plenty hot water for Sunday morning shower, great sunrise, good breakfast (at Bancroft Bites), great ride home.

Not long after heading off after above shot I rounded a sweeping left-hander to find a red Datsun 240/260Z coming towards me, straddling the centre-line (similar to the new TAC ad here in VIC).  Superb skills had nothing to do with me avoiding a crash, just luck.

Arrived home just in time to watch the MotoGP.

A great ride, great location (thanks Marcus!) and good turnout.  There was much muttering of this being an annual event at least.

A few photos from the Metung RTE.  There is something special about doing a coast to snow ride, and now I have done it in Victoria.  Usually it is coming from the snow in Thredbo to coastal NSW on the way back to the ACT.
