Well, a thoroughly enjoyable ride, if I do say so myself.
Met up as planned and the last to arrive was Diesel, no sign of Biggles although he was on the list. We had a couple of ring-ins who were more than welcome, and after some friendly chat amongst the group we pulled at a little after 08:30 as planned.
Got to Grantham, filled up the tanks, filled up on coffee and emptied the on-board tanks.
Then set out on the Gratham/Clifton section of the ride.
Some of the speedier members took off to test their mettle against the twists and turns whilst the remainder of us (who tend to ride a bit like little old ladies) stooged through the bends and eventually met up with the quicker ones at the junction of the New England Highway and the Clifton Road. Then it was off to the next stop at Amy's Coffee Shop in Allora for a leg stretch.
50 or so K's from there we finally pulled into the Royal in Roadvale for Lunch, and raised the Flag, after giving the local plod a good test run on his hand-held laser cannon halfway down the Range, exactly 90k's in a 90k limit...big smirk
Parked the bikes under the trees (we do actually have a few in Queensland!)
And sat around waiting for lunch to arrive.
Young One (Tony) received the BIGGEST Steak I've seen in a very long time, so big that my dog eat the (big) bit the Tony couldn't manage when I got home...Doggy thanks [Woof Woof] to Tony, trust me mate he enjoyed it!!
Silly pic in front of the Flag,
then everyone went their separate ways.
About 250k's round trip, plus whatever it took to get to Ipswich and home. Barely a cloud in the sky and slowly heating up to 33 degs by the time I got home. Even had a bloke on a Harley actually raise his hand in a friendly wave on the way to Grantham.
The UHF CB was of great value in keeping in touch with Diesel as he flitted around the riding group taking pictures and videos, more people should invest in working UHF CB's for runs...they are bloody useful!
Thanks to all participants, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did.
