Back home, had good run today, early start about 06:15 and home by 13:45. Had a fairly long stop at Townsville for breakky and a lot of roadworks on the way.

Had a great time in Yeppoon, it was fantastic to put faces to names and have a few laughs.

Got home this afternoon after a leisurely run back over 3 days zig zagging our way south.
Had a great time in Yeppoon catching up with old friends and meeting a few new faces. Yeppoon was a fabulous ride destination that I hope we'll do again next year?
Enjoyed the company, the yarns, the roads and the weather  :thumb

Thanks to all those that put the effort in to make the weekend happen.   :clap

Left Mooloolaba at 6am and headed to Tyres for Motorcycles at Albion in Brisbane. Arrived there about 7.30am, greeted by Rob with a coffee, New front tyre fitted, and in Warick by 10am . . All good running.  Cold and windy from then on and have stopped in Tamworth for the night . . . . Bloody cold running . . . Brrrr

Good ride to and from Yeppoon with some great friends and met lotsa new ones . . . Will do it again next year . . . . .  :hatwave  :eat  :beer

A bit cool! I today diesel he would have the green steam!

I have had the 'Green Steam' twice in 25 years now - about once too often!     :H

Thankfully, the price hasn't changed much for that toxic waste!       :rofl

In Bowen tonight. Couldn't believe the fog this morning leaving Yeppoon, could barely see 50m ahead it was so thick. Didn't get clear until about 70kms north of Rocky. Was also quite cold so I had the winter gloves until I reached Carmila.

Saw that rolling in just after the piccies on the peak...turned out then to be a good decision to spend an hour at the Yeppoon yacht club for brekkie and entertainment after STroopy asked the waitress why the chef was special...glad to read ya made it back to the warm bit of Qld safely Craig.

As mentioned by all others before, twas a great RTE, so much so I have recommended that all future Victorian RTE's from the months of June through to September should also be in Queensland. I do believe I have unanimous support from the ACT contingent, as like me they're still refusing to go home. I know this suggestion is posing a wee logistical challenge for the current Victorian ride co-ordinator, but he's young and I reason he's up for it.

Just a thought.

Ciao, the can :-)

Agree with Dick here!  The ride back was uneventful doing the inland route, until yesterday afternoon. Driving winds, heavy rain and the temperature dropping all the time.  I had all the gear on, including winter gloves and heated vest turned on for the first time (heated seat and grips also helped)  Once I got the screen adjusted to the right spot in conjunction with the visor open a little to avoid fogging and could also see the road, I was home.  Should have kept on going somewhere for a few hours to make it worthwhile....

How did the heated vest perform John?
I don't really need one up here but have a few friends that feel the cold more than me that will be interested to know if they are good or great?

Vest went really well. Often I have put it on instead of a liner and it has been warm enough without turning it on.  I have the more basic earlier one, but if you do feel the cold I would go for one with two battery packs as you would have it on more than me and need to have a few batteries charged.  Also portable away from the bike so you can walk around and feel warm.  A few more options these days.

Left Tamworth, 7am yesterday, cold windy ride home via Denman, Rylstone, Soffala, Bathurst, Oberon, Taralga an Goulburn, arrived home @ 4.20, unpacked, showered and warmed by 5.

Stopped at Golden Arches for fuel n brekkie in Scone, straight thru to Oberon for fuel and a large bowl of pumpkin soup and toast @ D J's Cafe (a great & very friendly eatery). Windy and cold all day but became extremely windy and cold from there to home. Temp showed around 8-9 c all day brrrr . . .

Ditto :thumb :thumbs

...I particularly enjoyed the bit about how dreamy the 365,000km ST1100 was to ride...well done both ST1300 author and caravan park test rider |-i

Unlike Couch, I don't know Yeppoon at all, as my last visit there was in 1958, when I was 6. So imagine my surprise to find that our seaside appartment that my parents took me to on the steam train from Lakes Creek station, still had it's original sheen and spaciousness I remembered all those decades ago. Fancy that :fp
