Used a Uniden UH-078 hand held as I already had one, but a 076 would work as well and about a $100 cheaper.....went from mobile radio GME tx3100 hidden on the ST1100 to the waterproof (ish) handheld RAM mounted on the 1300 so I could access its controls then via a external antenna.

There are a few waterproof mobile radios and handhelds on the market now, I preferred handheld for mounting space, still using 5watt output same as mobile radio through same antenna 2dbi / 6.5dbi gain depending on terrain......

Just asking...

I've placed a bid on eBay for a GME TX835 after I placed the bid I saw it was an AM CB set, so not sure if it will be compatible with UHF CB. But on the up side my bid was only $20.00 highest bid at the moment is sitting at $10.50.

So if I get beaten ill let it pass... Its supposed to be 2nd hand but never used still in the box from a deceased estate.

I started with a UH078SX-NB, and replaced it with a GME car type instead. I found the hand held to prone to noise, and had to have the squelch wound right up otherwise it was breaking through all the time.. The GME has the squelch level set at 2, and is noise free and receives well. I was able to talk to Rays ailing setup quite well over a distance of about 10Ks. An external antenna may have improved the reception, but didnt get around to trying it..

Fun how we found opposite issues Brock.....I had Tx noise on the GME to the receiver and no Tx or RX issues with the Uniden (non-bike powered) get 2 full days riding from a battery and carry a spare charged battery in the Tankbag......of course main issue is I need to carry the mains drop in charger when away.
