What resources are you using for finding free and low cost camping sites for caravan touring?
Wikicamps Australia has become quite "buggy" and keeps crashing on me, so I've downloaded the Camps Austrtalia Wide (CAW) app. However, CAW seems to have a whole lot less sites than Wiki. I'm curious to hear what others are using.

I asked an instagram friend what they do and she said:
I am in a Free/ Low Cost Caravan page on Facebook, also Showgrounds Camping.
We do a lot of Showgrounds but they are getting a bit expensive in certain places and sometimes I can get a good deal at Caravan Parks.

There's Campermate: https://campermate.com/
I've had no personal experience with the app though... :popcorn

We use 'Showgrounds Sports and Rec Grounds Camping' Facebook group as well as our caravan brand FB page. We also follow a few Youtubers. We have also had the Camps Australia Wide book for a few years now. FB groups are good if you can overlook all the whingers that seem to frequent their pages.

Thanks so much Skip. ++ That was exactly the kind of info I was looking. I've joined the FB group and had a browse of the info that's available through their web site and FB.

If you navigate the 'files' you'll find a map with all appropriate showgrounds pinned, so just zoom in on the area you are interested in, and then there is a list of all showgrounds by state. Both are awesome resources. I find it much more user friendly on a laptop rather than on the phone.

We use Wikicamps as nothing else is as comprehensive as its database and commentary. It has certainly been going through an horrendous 'upgrade' process, but the last app update improved things a lot. It still has many bugs and a few crashes, but is getting back to what it was before they "improved" it.

Hipcamps is our normal go to app Pete for the quieter out of the way family owned camp sites.
Our most recent quick getaway was at a farm stay near Ashford NSW and a typical example of a Hipcamp.
Fernlee Station
$13 per night, 5 campsites all a few hundred metres apart, Firewood supplied, on the river,……need to be self sufficient as no toilets/showers.
This camp was interesting (and worth a visit if your through NSW). The owners are massive supporters of returned service members and frontline emergency service workers and return your tariff or forward to a returned services charity organisation.
We stayed 2 nights for a quick getaway, spent some time in the Kayaks and 3 nice Cod caught.
Cheers

I watch a few YT channels and make notes of great places to visit - even which campsite number they had (if supplied) as it may enjoy a speccy ocean view or good shade or something.
WikiCamps also is great and you can set filters to only show low cost/free camps, dog friendly, phone reception, amenities etc etc.
