For those who may have wondered where this tiny cemetery is, it's located alongside the Uniting Church 421 Fairbank Rd, Arawata 3951...

20 days since it's original posting - this needs some clues to get it going again.

Spanner's original post starting this game said:

"the idea is to provide a photo of your STeed in front of something iconic ..... or 'easily' identifiable and the person who guesses correctly gets to either post a photo themselves OR nominate someone to post a photo."

This picture is obviously not easily identifiable from what has been provided to date so I'm guessing it must be iconic. I'm looking forward to reading how it has achieved its iconic status.

Agreed. The game needs to get back to the original intent which is challenging, yet fun, identifying iconic landmarks.

I check in occasionally, but find many of the posts are ????, so don't bother trying to play.

So what you want are iconic photos that are instantly recognisable...and if they are so easily recognisable where's the challenge???  :||||

Many of the landmarks or places of interest that others have posted up have meant nothing to me as I've never been there yet quite often I'll still try to work them out...with varying degrees of success.
For example Michael posted up one fairly recently of a nursery...(is a nursery iconic???)

As a matter of interest, this current photo IS actually of something iconic (& historic) to the area in which it's in...

Sometimes you just have to look for clues in the pic...or ask a question!

Michael obviously studied the pic which is why he came up with the great southern rail trail...
It wasn't that but he was sort of on the right track!

"the idea is to provide a photo of your STeed in front of something iconic ..... or 'easily' identifiable and the person who guesses correctly gets to either post a photo themselves OR nominate someone to post a photo."

That has been mentioned a number of times previously.

For example Michael posted up one fairly recently of a nursery...(is a nursery iconic???)

... or easily identifiable, and in that case ...

Had to do some photo shopping, otherwise this way too obvious.

Inconic?  It could be argued that there was an iconic element to the location.

... Re. the nursery, VFL Sharp Shooter Simon would not proud of my work.  For SA members, that may not be a clue, but for WA members (who follow AFL / VFL) and / or the Western Bulldogs, it may mean something.

Simon Beasley was a champion football player for Swan Districts and Footscray football clubs, and he is in the Footscray Team of the Century, and the West Australian Football Hall of Fame, inducted 2007, as well as receiving many other others - an icon of the game.

Now back to the current pic.  Given responses to answers so far, I'm guessing on the Great Southern Rail Trail between Korumburra and Leongatha.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

From my perspective I think it is more about recognising when people "haven't got a clue" and progressively throwing in more researchable clues until it is obvious that we are all so thick that we're never going to get it and it almost has to be spelt out.  I just don't see the point of having a picture sitting up there for days and days on end. If people aren't throwing in guesses it is suggesting it's too hard and they give up. The more pictures posted and the more people involved makes for a more fun game. I'm not suggesting posting ridiculously easy pictures either.

As I mentioned previously, it's not the Great Southern Rail Trail, Michael!

But, in saying that, it does have something to do with the Great Southern Rail Trail before it became the Great Southern Rail Trail...  :whistle

I guess it's a bit of a balancing act as to how hard to make a game...

But, as we've seen previously, if it's too easy we all quickly run out of suitable photos.
And in these times of lockdown and travel restrictions it's getting harder & harder to refresh stocks of suitable photos.

I haven't had a chance to travel interstate since I've owned my ST so the chance of posting up photos that, for example, members in South Oz are going to easily identify is virtually impossible...just as many photos of, for example, South Australian buildings etc are basically impossible for me to recognise without doing lots of google searches etc. But, sometimes I've been able to achieve it...

The reality is, for me, most of my photos are going to be around Gippsland so that narrows things down considerably for those playing the game...it's not ideal but if I'm going to participate in this game they are the restrictions I'm dealing with...

I guess at the end of the day it's all up to how serious you are at trying to solve the game...  :popcorn

Hi JD, the geographical coordinates are above my pay grade, in other words, I haven't got a clue as to what they are... :whistle

But, what I'd be doing is to perhaps search for shut down railway lines in the South Gippsland area...
Also, a closer look at the photo will perhaps give you a clue as to what part of the railway was once located here.

Good luck!  :thumb

If you find a location on Google Maps, right click your mouse, a box of info will pop-up, the top line are GPS coordinates, eg. -38.43237546664745, 145.82473782808935.  Now if you cut 'n' paste that back into Google Maps search field it will take you to Kelly's Bakery.  You can thank me when you buy me a capucinno there one day - soon we hope.

WRT shutdown rail lines in South Gippy.  Isn't that everything beyond Cranbourne?

Anyways, having regard to the topography in the pic, my (latest) guess is Old Loch Railway Station.

Thanks for the explanation, Michael... :thumb

I probably should explain that I actually did know how to get them, but there was no way I was actually going to look them up and then post them...  :whistle
I may be silly, but I'm not that silly... :rofl

Still happy to shout you a cappuccino, hopefully in the not to distant future... :thumbsup

Correct, but there was more than one railway line in South Gippy...

Anyways, having regard to the topography in the pic, my (latest) guess is Old Loch Railway Station.

JD has already previously suggested Loch which was not correct but it's good that you've recognised from the photo that it may have been a railway station...  :thumbs

Looks like you lot need a clue!  :o

Okay, this shed is on what used to be a branch line off the South Gippsland Railway Line.

It can also be seen on Google Street View...
