Are we able to put up some generic Aide memoirs instead of industry specific from the person tagged. I'm sure it will make the game more fun if we all are on a level playing field rather than using technical parameters that most of us have never heard of before.

I agree totally Sabie.  Most industries have acronyms that would only be known to people in the trade, and are not likely to be known or in use by the general community.

Maybe avoid acronyms that we have learned as part of our own working life.   This might improve equity.  (Access and Equity.  Whoops, Government speak)

Most acronyms eminate from Government and Industry. You will be hard pressed to find ones that aren't. Once you have done MPG, KPH etc there won't be much left and the game would fizzle quickly.
I'm think it is interesting to learn new ones and their origins.
Cheers,
Gary

It not that it's too hard Gadget but to obscure, it's not something the common person would ever use.

We are not common people. OzSTOCers are unique.  :grin

Most TLAs and FLAs are obscure, unless you've been filled in somewhere along the line. RPG from the gaming community means Real Powerful Gun but unless you've been told you wouldn't know. Same as FPS = First Person Shooter or in the video and film industry Frames Per Second.

I can't think of any TLAs that don't come from either Defence, Government or some industry/business. They purely exist as a form of shorthand to make life easier for people who work in that industry or business.

Even MPG comes from the automotive industry. KPH from government and the measurement industry.

For me I've worked in Defence, Government, Commercial sectors including aviation, pathology, metallurgy, concrete, cement plastics, paper and have come across heaps of TLAs and FLAs. Even some units of measurement are TLAs.

With HRC I expected with the breadth of membership in OzSTOC there would be metalurgists or NDI inspectorsor welders who would work it outn or have come across it before.
Because you picked out PSI, I figured WET wouldn't be too hard and with hints someone get it.

If it was too easy, then it would just come down to who is logged on and active the most and leave others out. Not everyone is logged in every day.

OK ... if thats the way you want to play then enjoy your "put up letters and google it" game. I'm not debating where they originate from, I was simply suggesting the game go back to it's original intent.

I'll watch from the sideline......................................
