Newbie
« on: December 07, 2011, 05:48:42 PM »
Hello everyone, although I have attempted to post this previously and failed ...I think.. due to an oversized pic and my very limited skills to remedy the situation.. here I go again!
My ride is an ex police ST1100 of the 96 vintage. I have had him since 2005. Only mods are the dual seat and the paint work.
I ride this bike 70 k's every day, and that's not including free time excursions to wherever the horizon ends.
Longest ride was to Claremont and back. The "back" part was a 1500 k ride in descending weather due to an incoming cyclone, in the one day... I really wanted to sleep in my own warm dry bed. The last five hours from outside Roma were the most notable due to the rain and the fact that I coudln't see much with any clarity due to a tinted visor, and , obviously, the rain and dark. As mad as this will sound to some, at that time I found the best thing to do was ride behind a car... just so happens that the pilot of the magna liked to travel at 130 kph! Scariest and perhaps dumbest night of my life.
Got home though :thumbsup
Well maybe that was with the exception of the two up ride into the Clarence river park. Or more to the point, the ride out! He He
Of course, experience is very large part of this tale ..
I have been riding for more years than I might have left, and every ride has been an absolout joy.
Looking forward to catching up

Carrelli  ... spelt it wrong for my tag, oh well
Later

I know the feeling ORSM. I have been going through a mailstrom of conflicting feelings myself. I had the st1100 ( carrelli ) up for sale and then I pulled the ad because I had just taken him out for a 300k blast around Kingaroy. And so it goes on ha ha
A new set of tyres and your are left thinking.. there you are!! the neutral alrounder returns :thumbs
Starts every time, carries a load and never complains... what a  mate
Siverghost huh?  So this might be a long shot but is your bike silver?

96 police ST1100 - another of the best model to keep this lot in awe at how good things could be!!  Looks somewhat cleaner and in better nick than mine though....Sunday is raining and doign triathlon support so should soften the bugs.

Hi saaz, wow thanks for the compliment. I purchased this bike in 2005 sight unseen from a guy in Cairns. He had bought it from a police auction in Toowoomba, and converted it to a dual seat ST.. also gave it a very expensive irredescent Magna gold paint workover which has endured the test of time.
And if it's worth owning, it,s worth looking after

Keep the black stuff under Ya
