Another newbie from QLD...Capt'n Bligh's State!
« on: December 29, 2011, 05:32:01 PM »
Hi all from another newbie here in sunny Queensland. I am picking up my 2004 ST1300A tomorrow from the dealer...bought it today and just had to clean out the car I'm using as a trade for it.  Took it for a test drive and got completely lost but what the hell I enjoyed it anyway and then called the dealer to a come and find me (...Note to self buy a GPS!!!)

It was a choice between an FJR 1300A and the ST and guess what won?!? (I have a CRV and and a Civic SI as well!).

Gonna join the Ulysses Club next week!!

Anyway, Happy New Year to all

Cheers :hatwave
Cheers,
Paul

I am beginning to get that feeling...and thanks for the greetings.

It occurred to me that I didn't actually say anything about myself, so here goes;

I'm 61, I started riding bikes about 25 years ago when I rode a Honda 750 Shadow...anyone see a trend happening here? I think I'm well into my mid-life whatever you want to call it and I'm bored with driving cars, and as I had one too many I decided (with the agreement of she-who-must-be-obeyed) to get another bike and take to 2 wheels again just for fun. I'll ride the ST to and from work ehich is only about 10 minutes and go on longer runs at the weekends, with Madam keeping my back warm.

Cheers all

Hey guys, I'm not sure what is causing the confusion unless you are saying that individual years are all painted the same colour. My ST1300A is definitely a 2004 compliance plate (Oct) and it is definitely Red, I can confirm this because I am actually looking at both as I'm writing this!

In fact can anyone tell me how I can get a top-box repainted 'cause this one as obviously been dropped (the top box, NOT the bike) and the paint is damaged.

Cheers all.

Whizz!!!

its been painted a custom colour then. the bikes age is dictated by its colour and 04 is blue.

Check under your seat and you will see a sticker on the frame that reads ST1300A4 Color PB-255P Code PB255 ... If it reads this and your bike is red then its been repainted. Red is Deff NOT an 04 colour.

OK, well in that case I bow to superior wisdom...but I like  :dred11 anyway, so I don't care. I just rode it 60-odd Kms back from the dealer and got 'the rush' again after quite some years...I now know what I was missing!!

Cheers all

I don't know about 2004 but some years there were two colours availble for ST1300s, 2008 there was red and a grey/silver.

Well all this talk about wolves and sheep's clothing got me worried so I checked the colour sticker under the seat then talked to my local friendly Honda bike dealer. The sticker says;

ST 1300A4
Colour R-151C-U
Code 151

and the dealer confirmed that that colour is red.

He also confirmed from the VIN that the bike is an Australian version and is indeed Red.

He also told me that according to his parts lists and manufacturer lists etc both Red and Blue were made in 2004.

So as far as I'm concerned I have a  :dred11 2004 ST1300A4 ...and I'm very happy about it too.   :thumbsup

I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Years Eve, ride carefully and don't let the 4-wheelers get you!!  :beer

Cheers,
Paul

Hey Apache (and other  :blu13 owners), what is it about the Blue that makes it go faster than any other colour? Less friction with that particular paint with the air molecules or is it the force field that surrounds both bike and rider? ...and does it actually matter what colour an ST is? We all know for a fact that they are the best bikes in the world, so the individual colour can make no difference to its brilliance ... does it?? 'cause it shouldn't!   :grin

and anyway we all know that  :dred11's rule!!
Cheers,
Paul

Happy New Year to everyone, whether you ride a  :dred11 or a  :blu13 or any other colour for that matter!

In my opinion the actual colour of your ride is a personal choice and has no effect on the bike, so colour is no longer an issue as far as I'm concerned, I'm just going to have oodles of fun riding mine! and I hope the same can be said for all you guys out there on ST's

Have a great 2012

Cheers

Welcome, Whizz. Fancy a short RTE this arvo? I've just rallied after lots of cocktails last night and would love to have a ride this arvo either on my Robinson or with one or five others. I'm near Jimboomba. My mobile is 0434 293 815. Best to text as my voice coverage is crap here!

Hi Scarp, could you perhaps, offer some info on far riders.
I viewed the site and it looks remarkably simarlar to this one.
I am just interested in rides that take in more than the local cafe.. no offence to those who enjoy this style of ride and kudos to those of you who do.
I do however, require more at times.
What I veiwed re the forthcoming 2012 ride left me a little ambivalent because there appears to be more politics than I require.

Just wondering

If you have the time and inclination to reply, it would be appreciated
