Not sure if I'm doing this right but I hope there is a picture of me on my bike attached to this, if not can anyone tell me how to get the picture to show, please.

Cheers

Hi Scarp, could you perhaps, offer some info on far riders.
I viewed the site and it looks remarkably simarlar to this one.
I am just interested in rides that take in more than the local cafe.. no offence to those who enjoy this style of ride and kudos to those of you who do.
I do however, require more at times.
What I veiwed re the forthcoming 2012 ride left me a little ambivalent because there appears to be more politics than I require.

Just wondering

If you have the time and inclination to reply, it would be appreciated

@scarp - same here. PM me if it's easier and I'll catch up with you ;-)

Welcome Whizz. I've got one of those blue '04 models. Hope to see you on one of our SE Qld rides and we'll sort this out once and for all. We'll get a photo of the 2 bikes together just to show those doubters that your bike is indeed red. Mate you'll love it whatever colour.
Cheers. Skip.

Thanks Skip, and to everyone else for their welcome messages. I love my bike regardless of it's colour (all though  :dred11 is best), and I'm loving getting back on two wheels again after so long on 4.

Meeting up for a SE QLD Ride sounds like a fantastic idea, do we have a ride calendar or something similar? If not maybe we should make one?

A final question for all you resident ST experts. I have heard these bikes variously described as ST1300's, ST1300A's, Pan-European and I've also heard of an ST1300A Blackbird...so what is the difference between these? Is the Blackbird actually black? Sorry to sound like a real know-nothing, but in this case that's what I am!.

The 'A' in the designation means it should be an ABS model.

ST1100, ST1300 is self explanatory. I think the official model designation, is the STX1300.

If there is any other designation after the numbers this indicates either ABS or the model year (two letters).  One trick is that police models have a 'P" after the number, but some model years also have a 'P' in them.

No such thing as an ST1300 Blackbird. The Blackbird is an in line 4 1100cc chain drive bike - the blackbird bit is a reference to a bird, not the colour as they come in various colours, including white!  Officially it is a CBR1100XX.  A sort of but not quite replacement for the Blackbird  is the VFR1200F V four shaft drive sports bike, which may one day be a replacement for the ST1300 once they make a new model out of it more like the ST1300.

Pan European is a designation used in Europe for the ST1100 and STX1300.  So we have the Pan European 1100 and Pan European STX1300.

And here is a link to Honda model codes.

I found this site a few weeks ago whilest looking for 1100 related parts.

Being an English site it covers the Pan but there's little difference between European and Aussie/US bikes anyway.

I've had to pick a model so I put mine in, but the right hand of the page gives model number and year.

The 1100 model code is defined as ST1100X with a letter for the year 1999 (X) for the base model and (A = ABS) so for mine it is ST1100AX and for 2001/2 models it would be ST11001 or 2 depending on year. The P for Police model was non ABS so it would be ST1100PY for 2000 year but not every year had a Police version.

http://www.hondascooterspares.co.uk/spares/modelImage.asp?modelID=2273&uid=0 for 1100

For the 1300 I picked the later model but as above with model and years on the right of the page.

The 1300 uses a similar system but using a number so ST13009 for the base model means it was made in 2009 and adding an A for the ABS model giving ST1300A9

The Police version would have P but in what years I would guessing but if it follows 1100 tradition then it would be like model, P then a number for the year. (ST1300Pyear)

http://www.hondascooterspares.co.uk/spares/modelImage.asp?modelID=12924&m=HONDA+ST1300A9+PAN+EUROPEAN&uID=0  for 1300

Saaz, you are a walking encyclopaedia. He is our technical adviser Whizz. I just ride the thing because I like it, a lot. I do know mine is an A, 'cause it says so. Never put it to the test but I believe it is.
Cheers.

Hey Skip, I do agree, I just got confused with the various things I'd heard ST's called so I thought I'd seek clarification knowing that these guys are experts... and I honestly hope that both you and I (and every other member) never have to put the ABS to use in anger!!!

Re; the colour debate. Just had a look on Bike Point and there are 2 RED '04 models for sale in Queensland alone. What the !!!! Must be catching on Whizz. Both are  at a dealer so hopefully they are reading the plates correctly. Don't want to start anything. I'm just saying.
