Gday from Sydney - New to the ST lovin.
« on: January 22, 2012, 06:29:20 PM »
Gday all.

I am a recent convert to the ST1100 and I am in LOVE with this bike!  :thumbs

Bike is a 2001 Pan European badged ST1100. Took it for its first spin (with me anyway) up to the mid north coast. I am so sure this is the bike for me that I am even posting on an ST forum ;)

So hello all, and particularly to those of us in the best city in the world  :thumbsup

Cheers, Shaun

Thanks for the welcome guys!

I have taken some bodgy pics of the bike sitting in the garage. One photo is improved somewhat by the lovely little girl who INSISTED on sitting on the bike for the snapshot.

And yes I am a mad gunners supporter.  :hatwave

Looking forward to my shout :)

Bike looks good Shaun, you will have to explain some of the gadgets fitted to it.

Ah ok, well here goes :)

-Above and to the right of the tach is a GPS speedometer (easy to slip over the speed limit on this bike so this is an in-your-face speedo)

- Missing in the photo is a CB/passenger communication hookup

- Below the handlebar is an AM/FM/LW radio

- right lockable glovebox houses a 12V charger and phone/audio jack that links to the phone holder on top

- Seat is a lowered gel padded number, under which is a starcom adv. comset with bluetooth.

- Metzeler tyres, rear one is a low profile.

- Yakugar rear shock

- swingout highway pegs

- staintune mufflers

- tank protector and tonneau covers on panniers

- and a partridge in a pear tree ;)

I think that's everything!

Cheers, Shaun

Welcome. Looks like an ex police bike repaited. I like the colour and the striping.  Looks like a starcom headset plug holder on the left there allright.  That does not look like a laminar lip on the screen so what is it???  And what is that cruiser bike on the left???

The screen is a slightly higher tinted screen with a liftable secondary screen for some extra protection highway riding. It is on a risable hinge.

The cruiser is a 2007 Hyosung GV250, a really fun little bike.

Welcome Shaun,

Ah girls and bikes.........better watch out, you might lose your bike. Ever thought of taking her for ride around the block.

I forget how many times over years the little girl in the car waves as you pass and the boys just sit there.

and two of my grand-daughters are no different as shown in the picture below.

My partners grand daughters all wanted a ride when I took my previous CX500 when we visted a few years back.

G'day Shaun and welcome aboard.

Thanks for your great intro posts. As I tell everyone when they join in, scout around and read some of the older posts to see what we have been raving about - there's actually a few gems in there!      :rofl

Great to see  another Member from Sydney. I'll arrange to have you sent some official OzSTOC cards that you can hand out to ST pilots around SID-EN-KNEE as surprisingly, we have a lower representation of Members from there than you'd expect.

At least Pete (blueheeler55) will be happy to have a riding mate now!       :crackup

Lastly - check out the plans for the National OzSTOC Rally to be held at Blackheath (Blue Mtns) - it's going to be just down up the road from you.

Now go ride that lovely machine!

Cheers, Diesel

Welcome Shaun,

My first memories of sitting on my uncle's 750-four were the reason I got into riding. Beware the monsters you may be creating.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Ironically, despite the photo, my daughter is quite timid when it comes to the bike actually moving while she is on it. My son, however, is quite a different story.

Have a great OZ day week everyone!

Yeah I'm with you on that on Saaz. I'm sure many of us have only ended up in cities as a result of work. I grew up in a little country town of about 400 people. A fantastic environment to grow up in. That's life I guess.

I am a product of country upbringing also (I moved to Sydney for Uni). Both environments have their upsides for sure!

Hi Shaun. Welcome to the world of Honda ST's. Nice ride.

Gotta love the Sydney beaches, particularly the Eastern Suburbs.

Yeah the Eastern Suburbs beaches are nice, particulaly Bronte Beach. I lived in the East until just recently. I am now back in the Inner West.

Oh, a bit more about myself... I am a taxi driver and concierge for my two kids and I occasionally have a break from that to teach science and maths full time ;)

I hope to be able to make the National event. I will probably just take my two man tent and  rough it ;)

Cheers, Shaun
