What Ice-box or Esky?
« on: January 27, 2014, 09:26:12 PM »
I've had a few problems trying locate an Ice-box or good Esky that will fit on the cooler carrier on the front of my trailer. I want something around the 30L mark, that is both light and efficient in terms of retaining ice for a few days. The tray itself is 600mm x 370mm, and the edge of the tray is slightly raised with 20mm square aluminium tubing around the outside. Tie-down points are in the middle of the 370mm sides.

Seems most Ice boxes start at around 40L, with a few exceptions around 20L that are too small and are obviously meant to be hand carried. About the only 35L I can find that will fit is an Evacool IceCool box; all other 35L boxes I find are too wide.

Alternatively, I could get the Icebox I want and make another tray to fit  :think1

I've been using an old Igloo esky and putting it inside the trailer but those days are numbered.

See this link for the one we're getting once the Christmas hamper is delivered in November http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=5359.msg60011#msg60011

This one is 50 litres which is about the same size as our current falling apart eski. I just need to get a new plate made up for the draw bar to suit the new eski.

I fitted a 35L Waeco with the handles removed. Dont need ice as it runs off the AGM deep cycle battery or 240V

Hi Tony, I wouldn't mind having a look at your battery setup sometime. Heaps of questions, but I've knocked the idea of a dual battery system as being too heavy for the time that I might need to camp without mains power, although the idea of lithium batteries might change that with a bigger solar setup! Just ice in an Ice-box for me at the moment though :'(

I ordered one of these

http://www.evakool.com.au/products?sprod=176

right size, price and hopefully works as well as the fibreglass Evacool iceboxes.
