A great opportunity to do the Virtual Rally and not leave your abode.

I like the scavenger hunt concept... that would be heaps of fun.

Still trying to come to terms with the virtual ride concept

just in case you can't access the link:

As per http://www.distanceridersaustralia.org/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=832 I’m pleased to open the call for Expressions of Interest for participation in the 2015 T4.

The Tour of Tasmania Two Thousand is offered as two separate styles – Active and Virtual.

The “Active” component is of 36 hours duration, and will run from midnight Friday 27th February to noon on Sunday 1st of March 2015.

The photo-based scavenger hunt will have a shotgun start (any point of the participants choosing within Tasmania) and a fixed finish point (to be announced once final numbers are locked in), and be wholly completed within the Australian island State of Tasmania.

Rally details (sans bonii) will be released to registered participants at the beginning of February 2015, and full rally book together with supporting electronic location information emailed to participants at midnight Thursday 26th February (24 hours before commencement).

The “Virtual” component will need to be completed with the 24 hour time-frame between receipt of full rally documentation at midnight of Thursday 26th February and commencement of the “Active” component on midnight of Friday 27th February.

The virtual component will be a desktop exercise of planning, routing and virtually ‘riding’ your planned route with factors such as Overall Average speed and fuel range predetermined for all virtual participants. “Proof” of bonus visitations will be via web-sourced imagery. My thanks go to Robert Roalfe (GrimRider), from IBAUK, for introducing me to the Virtual Rally concept and supporting my use of it.

Registration is via email to tasrally@gmail.com and should include a valid email address, real name, and the component (Active or Virtual - only one) for which you are registering.

Registrations close at midnight Saturday 31st January 2015. All dates/times are Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time (GMT +11:00)

A closed discussion board has been set up to enable group discussion amongst participants. Details will be provided upon registration.
