Shouldn't this go in the National Events (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?board=30.0) sub forum?

It should have, and Shiney has graciously moved it, I couldn’t post it there and have it as a sticky topic as I don’t have those privileges in the National Events Topic.
Also someone in the Mudgee National Organising Committee needs to provide more information on what will be happening at that Rally. I have no idea who is on that Committee.

Good work Shiney. :thumb

I was going to Mallacoota after the rally in my original plan for this month but just as I finished a course bushfires broke out and I never booked anything. I'm sort of replanning my march trip at present but doubt I'll be going into Victoria (no disrespect).

As esteemed and cultured members of the Community, First Choice Liquor Stores have suggested additional itinerary options for those attending the National Rally, should it be able to go ahead. Unfortunately, none of the reasons for visiting suggested motorcycling.

I note that the October NatRally was postponed about 25 weeks from the event, partly due to long lead times for production of badges etc, but also because Covid1-19 was getting away. We are now just 19 weeks from Mudgee NatRally 2021, so perhaps we can assume that it's going ahead.... :runyay
I am so looking forward to being able to catch up with my interstate friends again. :beer
-
I hope so, although I hope to be going regardless, pending borders being open.
Who is organising it? I note ST2UP and Sicman haven't logged in for quite a while and just two months ago when I went to the bank to make my annual donation to the club (albiet later than usual) I was informed the bank account was closed. I did send a PM but as the person I sent the PM hasn't logged in since the day before that I have had no response. That and the website being transferred to another host makes me wonder.
Nevertheless, I intend to be there, which reminds me, I had better start planning routes/accommodation before and after.
-
I don’t know who is organising the Mudgee Rally, I haven’t heard from Chris for a very long time.
-
Mudgee still all a go......just playing the COVID balancing act in regards to groups, venues, travel, shirts from overseas etc.
Been getting flogged at works, so I’ve been quiet on socials etc.
Registration will go live in the coming weeks.
Cheers
-
Great to hear!
-
Good news :Like:
-
Just called my Dad, and during the discussion he asked if I'd ever stayed at Mudgee.
The reason he asked is they have just come back from a Western NSW holiday to Parks, Dubbo and Narrabri.
When he got to Mudgee, the cheapest motel room was $275, the dearest $500.
As they were planning on staying 3 nights, they went to the Caravan Park and got a cabin for $125. He said it was rustic, good and clean, but the bed was so hard, you may as well have slept on the floor.
Apparently it's not too far from Sydney and due to COVID, Sydneysiders are flocking there for the weekends, booking the place or and hitting the local wineries.

Interesting comment above - What are you wondering about? Not one person from this club has made contact to see how us Paramedics have been coping with the Covid workload, and the workload from the 2019/20 bushfire period that Chris and I were so heavily tasked to thru our main jobs and our volunteer roles :fp
Chris and Jean are the decision makers, I just help out with the facebook posts when I get time, but this last 12 months there hasn't been much spare time. If anyone wants to step up to help plan the Mudgee event, then chat with Chris.
-
Sicman, I'm sorry no-one has enquired about how you've been coping but I, like many other members probably had no idea of your occupation and volunteer roles!
Anyways, I'll say it now, here's hoping you & Chris are both doing okay...and a big thankyou to all those paramedics and volunteers out there!!! :beer
-
I didn't know about volunteer roles although I did know what your occupation is. With the forum being moved another host, the bank account being closed and neither of you logging on for a while I was wondering if the mantle had been passed onto someone else. I wasn't attacking either of you personally. And for what it's worth, fewer people ask how transport workers have been coping.

Thanks for the reminder Phil.S I have just booked as well.
I have a two bedroom cabin for Phil W and me. If anyone misses out on a booking at the Big4, there were (at last check) some reasonably priced rooms at the Paragon Hotel, a 1.5km walk to the Big4. https://goo.gl/maps/SFZ6vJ3wFQjwKrA99 If ya at the Paragon, don't make any smart alec comments about the bar staff, one of 'em is Joso's daughter-in-law, don't ask how I know.

Hi Tony,
All our Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors, Firefighters, and all the public facing professions like bus drivers, train drivers, cashiers, wait staff, shop assistants etc, have been on my mind throughout this pandemic (which is a long way from over).
I know how very fortunate I am to be able to work from home, and feel for everyone who don't have a choice, especially those who risk their lives serving the community.
I hope you and your families are coping well with everything.
If you need to talk, I am prepared to listen.
Cheers
Gary

Whilst I'm appreciative and gratefull for all of the personal dedication and support of all frontline workers through COVID, as well as the thanks expressed in this thread, in my view this thread is not the place for many of these posts.
Two reasons for my view:
- Much of the kind words expressed will lost in discussion about the NatRally.
- Following much of the discussion about the NatRally can be difficult - and quite frankly, somewhat confusing.
By all means, post comments, questions and responses about COVID, frontline workers, their personal efforts, etc ... in a dedicated thread. Perhaps one of the forum adminstrators or moderators can create a new COVID thread and then cut 'n' paste relevant posts from here (including this post) to the new thread.
Another personal perspective, I have been fortunate, like Gary, to be able to work from home, no more than 10 office vists, and less one-on-one meetings with members of the public, since mid-March. But most of my close family, being nurses and teachers, have not been as fortunate. To them and others and other frontline workers, thank you.

Sounds like a good idea Michael. I only wanted people to know how busy we were, to explain why the absence and to quell the doubts of the person making, what read like allegations :thumb

Who was making allegations? I just asked a question and stated why I raised it.

When does Registration open for the rally
-
I'm a yes for the rally, looking forward to it!
-
Morning All,
Was about to open registration this weekend via the OzSTOC Shop.....however, the latest little NSW COVID scare will have us hold for another week. We are still within the Pin, Patch, Shirt lead in timeframe...
Remember what is reported in the media today in regards to positive COVID numbers and “hotspots” is 24-48 hr old information due to testing process times etc.
Hope everyone and your families are well.
Cheers
Chris and Pockey
-
With the current uncertainties, and the possibility that travel restrictions could cause the rally to be cancelled at the last minute, perhaps an option is to have the Mudgee NatRally but without the Pin, Patch and Shirt. It could have all of the elements of our usual NatRally but without the need to commit club funds in advance to the Pin, Patch and Shirts.
-
By the same token, even in the event of it being cancelled I'd still like a shirt. I wouldn't mind a 2020 that has a note saying the original event was cancelled.

Thanks for the update, I'm sure there will be plenty of time to organise what needs to be organised, and what doesn't ...

...or perhaps the Pin, Patch and Shirt could be organised after the event, if organised at all. IMHO, having and attending the event is more important than having the event memorabilia whilst at the event; for those that a really keen collectors, these items can be ordered and distributed at a later date.

I think that is a great idea. We all seem to have different likes in terms of memorabilia.

Morning y’all,
I trust your Xmas was as you wished for ..... ;-*
One of our pre-COVID Rally Sponsors has needed to withdraw their financial support for unfortunate business reasons.
So if anyone has any ideas for a quick sponsor or two it would be helpfully. Essentially a few hundred $ will get you a spot on the sleeve and $500 plus will earn a breast location on the front.
The other option is to kick the rally rego cost up by upto $10 at most.
Cheers
Chris

I know some of the difficulties getting sponsors for NatRally type events, and some of the resulting emotional and mental stress to the organisers. If lack of adequate sponsorship only adds $10 to rego cost, that's only a small cost that I'm happy to accept.
-
Same here.

Looks like a good response so far.
So come on ladies & gents, let's keep Chris and others' stress levels down, and let 'em know that they don't have to looks anymore for sponsors.
-
We're happy to pay a few bucks extra, if it avoids the stress of rounding up sponsors. The most important thing is that we can all get together after a challenging 2020.
-
Happy to pay $10 extra as well as not to have a polyester shirt, mine are all in a bag waiting for the borders to go down and I give them to Bodo Glimt the next time I pass through Adelaide.
-
No problem with cost here
-
... as well as not to have a polyester shirt ...
Yeah, I'll +1 on that, I prefer cotton or cotton blend, crew neck T-shirts.
-
I quite like the current shirts (ie, those used for Wooli, Mackay and Port Sorell).
-
The only time I've worn the shirts is at the Rally, so I'd support a decision for no NatRally shirts. However I do accept that many people like them.
-
The shirts make for good pub wear, going to outdoor shows :thumb etc The other thing to think about is they are a good advertisement for this great club. The more shirts we have out there, the more enquiries we get about OzSToc and the more members we get, the more friends we meet at RTE's and Nat Rally's ;-*.
Just wearing a shirt, cap etc can mean we keep this place going for a good while to come :clap :thumbs

I always wear my black Ozstoc shirt to RTE's but almost always wear rally shirts to pubs and other lunches. It certainly gets more questions than my Bodø/Glimt shirt does.
-
I'm another one that has no issue with paying extra :thumbsup
As for shirts I personally prefer the the older style T-shirts, I find them more useful for everyday use :thumb
Cheers
Shiney
-
I'd much rather poly/cotton polo shirts with a pocket, bit more dressy than a T shirt plus the pocket is handy for my phone... :grin
While I know many like them, I'd never wear the current shirts that I've seen from previous Nat Rallies...

I'm a little more confident re. NatRally proceeding, and I have until 5 March to cancel my Big4 booking and not receive a refund. So I will make a decision in around two months.
My travel buddy, Phil, may be pulling out (depends when he relocates to Tassie), so I may be looking for someone with whom to share my cabin. I'll start another thread on that subject.

I do wear my shirts out, mostly the Tshirt. I also mention OzSTOC the official club on all the other ST1300/ST1100 Facebook pages that have been created.
I’m proud to be part of this club.
Put me down for the rally please. I would like to see a rally pack but don’t need to get it pronto at the event.
I will happily throw in the balance needed and have JYTED & a small yellow Daytona :Spyder on the sleeve or Chest, but really an ST should be on the chest. I want to see OzSTOC prosper and happy to provide financial support to see us continue. I’m not doing this for my own vanity if that’s how ppl read this either!OzSTOC has giving so much to me these last 7 yrs(?) in every state of our Cuntry.
I will be heading to Mudgee in the Sprinter towing BEEstY and if my plans come together will continue on the road on a permanent basis travelling the country. I want to finish the only sections of Hwy 1 on the north west coast Darwin to Perth and Perth to Ravensthorpe then everywhere and anywhere. My home is wherever I roam. My home has become untenable so I am giving it back, it has caused me enough grief and it’s impacting my health :OldMan
I also say thanks to all our 1st responders for what must be a very stressful time caring for people. My own health may require your service. So Thank you.
I’ll go LQQk for the registration page and pay my dues.
Happy New Year to everyone and I hope the current border restrictions are lifted before the rally. I hope everyone’s year ahead is full of adventures that create memories to help diminish those made in 2020.

Only 2 months to go :runyay.

Unfortunately Chris and I will not be attending Mudgee 2021. With Covid-19 still active and popping up from time to time, the risk of a border closure or travel bans could catch us out and leave us stranded interstate and unable to cross back into SA. Such a delay would impose a heavy financial burden due to the need to get accomodation for an uncertain time until borders opened again. While this year may be better than last, interstate travel in 2021 is still riddled with uncertainties.
We are looking forward to being able to travel interstate without concerns, and once this thing is back in the bag, I expect to bob up all over the place at some RTEs.
-
:'(
-
Still hope to make it if borders are open. Probably only get there late afternoon on the 13th.

Whilst you will be missed by many Pete and Chris, it is totally understandable. Life has too many uncertainties atm and health concerns are on top of many of our minds. Borders have helped in containment of this insidious covid strain.
I l👀k forward to when ‘it’s in the bag’ and we can all safely come and go across the country. Stay safe guys and see you on the road somewhere in the future

Still hope to make it if borders are open. Probably only get there late afternoon on the 13th.
🤞with any luck the borders will open. JD

Sadly in light of current events I made the decision to withdraw from this event, and shall turn my attention to Tumby Bay. That said, I would still be interested in a rally pack.

Totally agree Pete. Much safer all round to stay in our home state for the time being. :thumbs

I'm on the fence at the moment, Vic opened up borders to regional NSW, but who knows how long for? I'll decide closer to the time

Same here, I’ll make a decision in around six or seven weeks.

Evening everyone,
I put a PM to the NatRally organizers and forum moderation team as a listening post and we have made the unanimous choice to Cancel National Rally. We are proposing to keep the dates available for a overnight RTE for those who wish to attend.
I will explain further when not submitting this on my iPhone bouncing around in the back of a work vehicle.
Regards
Chris

Fair call :thumb

Yeah. Good call. It's a tough decision but the safest for a everyone. No one wants to get trapped.
-
Thanks Chris
Robyn & I were only talking today about cancelling
I better go cancel accommodation
Good call for everyone

No one (that I can see), and certainly not me, mentioned or decided that you were not going. I, and others, have done our best to update the attendance list (which from above posts is now a moot point anyway). If I forgot to add someone, and I'm not the only one, stiff cheddar, but don't get angry at me.
You're a big boy Johnny, so you can add or delete your own name.

Thanks Chris for the update, I’ll cancel my site booking tomorrow.
Williamson I wasn’t keeping the list updated but I did post up I was going and had booked, I wasn’t having a go at you personally. The list had been updated twice after my post and I just replied to the one you updated last. I’m not a big boy, I m a small man but you’re bigger. :nahnah :butt :spank

The need to cancell Mudgee NatRally for 2021, while understandable, is disapointing for those who planned on attending. They are wonderful gatherings to be part of, and a great chance to meet up with old friends and new. I certainly miss seeing my interstate friends, and the last "over the border" RTE (and ride) that I went on was nearly a year ago.
Our OzSTOC management group need to make tough decisions from time to time, and they continue to have my full support.

Today I changed my booking at Mudgee Big4 to just the Saturday night so if the date is marked for an O/n RTE. I hope other NSW/ACT members come along for a smaller gathering in support of the Big4 park.
As Stinky Pete said I also fully support our management group for all the hard work they do in keeping us viable. Thanks guys

Thanks for the heads up.

Very sad but understandable decision. This will make it easy for some considering pulling out and not knowing what to do.
I have a Victorian trip that was a clash with the rally so now I don't have to squeeze in both trips.
Not that I am happy about it but it makes it simpler.
Look forward to hearing when the next one is scheduled. Hopefully to be unaffected by cover restrictions and uncertainties.
-
Sad, but it wasn't looking good for West Aussies being able to go home without 14 days of isolation.
-
A big ‘thank you’ to the Mudgee NR team. We are in such unpredictable times that the decision to cancel was really the only option. But all the work you girls & guys have put in during 2020 & 2021 hasn’t gone unnoticed!! Jenny and I have been hanging back from registering and watching the ever-changing border-closure landscape and weighing up the risk of being stuck if Annastacia closed the Qld border again. Thanks again NR Committee; we’ll no doubt all be able to get together one day. Cheers, Dave

Tipto and I are still going, as long as he can get out of and back into Victoria!

Can i suggest locking this thread and starting a new dedicated one for the overnighter to make it easier to keep track of who is and isn't going.
I am OUT, so feel free to strike my name off the list :CB--

Easily done. I'll take Shillas's off too.
