Does anyone have an idea what the temperature of the rear drive spline would run at?
I ask now that Honda has stopped making the Moly 60 in the small cartridge and is now going to a smaller M77 assembly paste. I am told the new paste comes in a smaller 2.65 ounce tube and costs a lot more.
So I am starting to look at other options. So I was wanting to know what the temperatures that we might find in normal operation on a stinking hot day that the final drive spline might be looking at.

Never heard of it being an issue. I would think all moly lubes would resist m/c transmission parameters.

If you cant get the Honda Brand at a reasonale cost get the Suzuki brand ( Same stuff). Part No 99000-25140. 50 g for $12.95 at Mick Hone Motorcycles on Whitehorse Rd, Mont Albert.

Thanks guys. I was not indicating that temperature is a problem but rather just would like to know what temp is likely to be, hoping someone might know. Is it 50, 100, 150 or 200C? As I look at grease, temp thins it out and I notice that I often see my moly has moved away from the spline and has spun out in radial lines. So I wonder if I obtained a higher temp rated extreme pressure grease then I might be actually better off.

I just happen to have an unopened tube of Honda Moly 60 paste which I bought from the US sometime in 2013 so I took a pic of the label. Temp for Moly ranges from 75F to 750F (23.8C to 398.9C) for moving parts. Directions say to apply a thin film but is that enough?

Alan, Thanks very much. 400c is very hot so no issue with it thinning out. Must simply be centrifugal force throwing it out a bit.

That's where I got mine from but I when they had a 2 tube special on. It's half the price if you buy from their store ...... well some one has to pay for the e-bay and paypal fees......lol
