Title: Mad Max Trailers

Had a visitor on the weekend from Bunderberg.
He arrived towing a Mad Max trailer.

Now, I'm not in to trailers however if I was, this would be the one I would purchase.
Bit of the background. Made by a gentleman at Woolloongabba who has sunk a small fortune to date into the development.  The trailers are currently made to order rather than from a production line and they have undergone a number of refinements since the model shown on their website.

The things that sold me;
 *  250 liter capacity
 *  aerodynamic shape
 *  easy to keep clean
 *  self tracking
 *  low fuel cost

however the biggest feature IMHO is the hitch:- nothing more than a spindle on both sides of the rear axle. 2 minutes to hitch and unhitch and nothing to indicate you are even towing a trailer.

Not cheap @ $2,500 approx.

Similar trailers have been around for a long time. Barry used to tow a uni-trailer behind his BMW.
At that time they weren't registerable in the ACT as the rear lights were too close together. Not sure about now.

Winston66 that is a nice looking trailer you have there. Your towbar appears a little more substantial that a classic industry's bar. Does it affect the handling much? How much difference in fuel consumption / range? As I have been thinking of building something similar.

With mine, I find the handling to be not effected at all, I have to keep looking the mirrors to make sure it is still there. Towing behind my 650cc Dominator the fuel consumption increases by 1 litre/100Km (bugger all).
The only time I notice any difference is at slow speed where it feels like carrying a pillion.

This was a home build exercise for me,
I just seem to get bored and then I just have to keep myself busy.
