150 Thousand Km check up
« on: May 21, 2020, 10:29:52 PM »
 :dred11 Hi All,
My 2000 ST1100Y is about to reach 150,000 km so as it's quiet ATM, I thought I would give the wee darlin' a special present.
An official service, tune, fork juice, rear shock overhaul, and maybe a wash.

If you are also in Brisbane, who would you trust your bike to, if you wanted to have these services done?
Just one "fix it all" or go around to specialists - Procycle Dyno, RAD shocks, ProHonda?

Should I dedicate a week and do it my self in the shed?
Love to hear your opinions, please.

Do it yourself if you want the job done properly, 1100 is due for timing belt at 160 so do it now

So at what age does this "old enough to know better" kick in?

If you have the time and the patience I recommend doing everything yourself.

You save a lot of money and even if you spend a bit on tools to do everything you still come out the other side with a lot more money in your pocket (plus new tools :thumb)
And as Yorkie said, you know the job is done right plus you obtain new skills :thumbsup

If you do decide to go this way remember you can search the forum for info and if you can't find the info you need there are a lot of knowledgeable guys here that love to help :thumbs

Cheers

Thanks Shiney, Yorkie, & Jdbiker.
I'll give it a go myself for the fork springs & oil, service, timing belt & brake flush. But I'll also take the rear shock to RAD in Moorooka for an overhaul while I have the Tupperware off.

Off to ebay for parts I guess!
See you at the next RTE.
