New rotors
« on: April 01, 2014, 11:26:58 PM »
I haven't been on for a while, had a few challenges of late.

I have a question that may seem lame, but I'll ask anyway and cop the flack.

Around the middle of last year I took AnaSTasia off the road to do some major things, fork seals, shims etc. while I was working in the city.

Anyway some time around Sept I think, I ordered some rotors from eBay that were advertised as to suit ST1100. Well they arrived and due to other things happening I didn't pull them out till about a month ago.

Anyway I discovered they are about 20mm in diameter smaller that standard, so what effect would smaller rotors have on braking. :H

The people on E bay that marketed the rotors are no longer around, to long ago.

Please be gentle with the flack. ;-*

BTW AnaSTasia is now at home  on the farm but still in bits, but progressing slowly.

Metalgear lists the same rotors for all models. What style are the rotors, as the metalgear ones look like OEM but other brands can look quite different, and may measure differently.  The barke pads doe vary between 96 on abs and other models.

Brock, I got them out of China, but I cant find a record of the transaction
they look the same as these. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Disc-Brake-Rotor-front-CBR1000F-87-99-VFR750-ST1100-/330413223994?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cee29b03a&_uhb=1

They were listed to suit ST1100 but I see somewhere there maybe 2 sizes for difeerent variants.

Standard OEM for ST1100P is 318mm whereas I got 296mm. They may suit other models.

Basically the ones I got are slightly smaller so all of the pad is not in contact with the rotor, the brake may still be ok but whats the long term, may well get some from Oz and flog what I have. What I see through Oz at reasonable prices is coming from China anyway.
