Title: BLACK BEAUTY
Post by: Gra Har on November 25, 2019, 05:23:07 PM
Good evening everyone, my first post to this forum. I joined yesterday after finaly getting my ST home on Friday.

Introducing my next bike and the my long awaited touring bike will be mine at 10am today. MH is driving me down to Campbell Town (TAS) to pick it up from the existing owner who lives in the Hobart region.

It's BLACK, is there any other colour for a touring bike😉 I have been biding my time to get one of these and everything fell into place last Sat evening whilst surfing bikesales.com, I almost jumped out of my rocking chair when I spotted it and in Tassie too. I swung in to action straight away, emailing, texting and a good ol chat to the owner, followed by an inspection and test ride last Sunday at Campbell Town. Handshake deal was done and in a few minutes we will be on our way on this glorious day to pickup the ☻BIG BLACK LAP BIKE☻

Check out this 2012 Honda ST1300 ABS.

Welcome from Port Sorell and good luck with your purchase.   :hatwave

Many of us were in Tassie for our national rally the weekend before last.  Most have returned to the mainland and tomorrow I shall be doing that too.

Thanks, I drive a maxi taxi in Devonport  (daytime 4.40am to 4.30pm) and I have indeed seen many STs  about these past couple of weeks, especially outside Molly Malones😉

There is 6 free motorcycle parking spaces opposite Mollys.
Give me a call on 0429792697 I may be driving around somewhere vacant tomorrow and could we have a coffee at Playfish pictured in photo. It's at the corner of Forbes and Franklin St Devonport and great coffee and food cooked on site.

Hi Gra Har, welcome from South Gippsland... :thumbsup

I remember that ST, it's been on bike sales for quite a while. I would've loved to have bought it myself but it was a bit out of my price range plus the logistics of it being in Tassie would have been a pain.

Enjoy!!!!  :blk13

What a fortuitous find!  You've bought a great touring bike.  Odd that you snagged it just after the National Rally of the club associated with the bike that was held so close to your place.
Now it's your turn to return the compliment and visit us in the Big North Island with you new steed.

We've had a shocker of a day in TAS, so been doing some reading up on the ST and just now I purchased the Haynes workshop manual, price has been slashed from $51 to $35 including postage. Should be here for Christmas, so I will be able to undress BB with some confidence, have already noticed a couple of fairing connections missing underneath.

Looking forward to the challange, I remember my VFR800 was a mungrel of a thing to undress, no such problems with the GSX, she already naked😉

With practice you can get the plastic off one side in 20 minutes.  Just be conscientious about managing the fasteners for the reinstall.
Getting the big side panel to fit back on can be a PITA.

I bought the Haynes service manual and must say I was a little disappointed with it.
The quality of the paper used is fairly ordinary...still, it's better than not having a manual and for that price you really can't go wrong!

Have fun!  :thumbs

Before you have a go at the fairing removal have a look through the "Fairing/cowl removal" section of the forum:   http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13.0)
There you will find the correct order to safely remove the fairings and a cheat sheet to help keep track of all the fairing clips and screws.

The removal order should be the same in the Haynes Manual? but it won't have the handy cheat sheets, they are very handy :thumbsup

Cheers
