Intro
« on: June 11, 2012, 08:35:21 PM »
Hi Folks, Just to introduce myself, my ride is an STX 2004 model, ie electronic windscreen adjustment, I have kitted it out with a Corbin seat, raised bars and Kaoke throttle lock. I have wired it for accessories and use a GPS in the mapfront of the tankbag. I picked up the bike two years ago with only 27,000klm on it. Currently off the road awaiting a new ECU. Bit of a sore point actually as it took two months for the first one ordered to get here only for it not to accept the keys. Second one is ordered and am waiting for the call. Winter is riding time in this part of the world and every day off without the bike is an experience lost.
My wife and I live at ALVA beach out from AYR NQld and would welcome any members dropping by should they be in the area. I am keen to do a coastal circuit of OZ one of these days. I am available to join runs in the January to May period. I am a Logistics Officer with a local sugar mill and am kept busy the rest of the year. Looking forward to meeting up with you when the opportunity presents.

Regards

Welcome Rocky,
What sugar mill are you at? I did my cadetship with CSR back in the days (early 70s) when they were bit in the sugar industry.

That key/ECU business is a pain in the proverbial.  I had it with my 2004 ST13.  There are some helpful hints about that very problem in this Forum and the US forums.  Basically, every ECU should be programmable to accept new keys.  So they say...

Hi Folks, Just to introduce myself, my ride is an STX 2004 model, ie electronic windscreen adjustment, I have kitted it out with a Corbin seat, raised bars and Kaoke throttle lock.

Just wonderin' about the STX bit...

Does an ST become an STX when you put the Corbin, bars and Karaoke player on it?    :whistle

Not sure where that comes from but several sites call the ST1300 an STX1300. Hopefully someone could enlighten us.....lol

West Aussi Glen, I am at Kalamia we started the 2012 crush today.
For those of you who are wondering the STX preface is the model number of the non ABS, non electric windscreen control 'pan european' version. I believe all since do not have the STX preface. I was in the dark untill I went to order genuine parts and every Honda mechanic I have run into refers to my model as an STX1300. Looks the same rides the same. Why this model? I am a bit of old school and as yet prefer non ABS brakes.

G'day Rocky - welcome aboard and thanks for the intro mate.     :thumb

Last time I was up your way on the ST13 - I only got as far as Airlie - will have to put the extra miles in next time and say'g'day - would like to get up there for the Townsville V8s festival on of these days - I'll let you know if that can happen.

As you know by now - we have a few members scattered around your area - but having a healthy ride to the pub for lunch is not a bad thing.

Hope to catch up one day soon.

Cheers, Diesel
