New ST Owner from Central NSW
« on: August 25, 2012, 10:44:58 PM »
Hi all,

I'm Andrew and recently the new owner of a '03 Candy ST. I've been lurking for a while, taking in some of the tips for mods and farkles, and so far, the ST only has Staintune pipes and a sheepskin seat cover. I'm yet to fit my electric screen kit, and I'm waiting on a tankbag, mirror and fairing deflectors, and a few other small bits and peices.

I come from a Yamaha MT-01, which I still own and will continue to own, as it is a keeper and a wonderful bike to ride; at least solo anyway. Which leads me to the reason for getting the ST. My ulterior motive is to encourage my wife back into riding a bit, well at least at first. I did my homework on tourers, and being the previous owner of a CX500 and knowing it's capabilities and reliablility, I though it a natural to include Honda ST's in my list of potential bikes. Through a process of elimination, I ruled out all but the ST (either 1100 or 1300) and a Yamaha FJR, but in the end, the pendulum swung the Honda's way, and I'm not disappointed in the least. Smooth, comfortable, light (once moving) and easy to ride.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to putting heaps of K's on the ST, and drawing from the collective knowledge of the group to assist me in a few mods and decisions involving changes for the better,

regards

Andrew :rd13

Great to have you about, we hope you have picked up some good tips and hints, and hope you get a lot more.

Welcome Andrew. We seem to have quite a few northern NSW members now so stay tuned for a local ride and meet in say October. Rides in other parts of NSW/Vic TBA (that is once I think about it more and rope a few local 'volunteers' in!!)

Sorry, SAAZ, I might have contributed to that as I did have Central NSW down somewhere in my profile, but I've since changed to show Orange; I'm actually just out of Orange but no-one would know where March is.

Thanks for the warm welcome from you all; I'll be on for the odd :crazy ride and meet and greet :beer  :eat  :beer :beer, with Inverell on the 15th being a possibility; it's only a few hours north. The ACT and snowy regions are also within a weekend's range as well, so I'll certainly look forward to putting a few K's on the ST. It only has 26,000 at the moment.....
