Introducing Gregory to OzStoc
« on: September 11, 2012, 03:04:32 PM »
  :beer
I am from Wollongong, "The GONG". I like my family (wife, daughter, son), nature, home brew, BBQs, clay ovens, owner-building, art, health, science, crosswords (not cryptic!) and software.

Got my licence on a Yamaha 500 twin 38 years ago and had my one of only two crashes on my learner's plates while I was leaning down listening to my beautiful new bike's humming motor at low speed and didn't notice a curve coming and ran off the road and rolled the bike over into the scrub. There were many small trees I could have impaled myself on and I missed them all!

So my new bike was scratched badly but undamaged mechanically so I rode home to my dad's service station while mentally kicking myself in the arse 1000 times.

After repairing that bike I later swapped it for a Yamaha 360 road/trail bike and had my only other crash when a madly speeding bike coming over the hill crashed into my rear wheel as I was entering my home's driveway. He clipped my rear wheel and took the bike from under me and I jumped clearest and was again unhurt. He went sliding 50 metres down the road and was also unhurt. I gave the idiot a blast about speeding on town roads and told him to p*** off before I thump him and forgot to get his registration plates and to pay for straightening of my bike's frame myself. Yes, I can be stupid at times!

Didn't get another bike for another 10 year's so I could visit my wife who had started a new job in Wollongong while I was trying to sell our house out in country NSW. I bought a Beemer 650 boxer that got to and from the Gong many times.

Now, 15 years later I am in the market for an ST1300abs after I recover from a heart attack a week ago. It came from nowhere as I am a robust and reasonably fit home renovator of many years. However my cholesterol has always been around 6 and finally clogged an artery to 96% and caused an acute myocardial infarction. My family noticed the symptoms as I was making their lunch, so I grabbed some overnight items and my wife drove me to hospital 5 mins away. After two ECG's I went straight into the op theatre where a balloon opened up the clogged artery so well that a stent wasn't required. Back home only 2 days later. Very lucky.

So, I'm on the hunt for a Honda ST1300ABS but won't be able to ride for a couple of months yet.

Anyone got a really good one at an incredibly reasonable price AND WHY ARE YOU SELLING IT?

Cheers!

Hi Gregory, welcome to the looney bin.

The saying about not having to be mad to work (read PLAY) here, doesn't apply...you do have to mad, but there again everyone else is, so what's the big deal??!!

Have fun!

G'day.  There's always quite a few goodies on the 'net, and every bloke on the Forum will be happy to take it for a test ride for you!   :runyay
Get the clearance certificate soon.  You're wasting the best riding weather!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Welcome to the site Gregory. DeSTy from the Gold Coast has just posted that his '03 1300 is for sale for $8000 and has a few extras to throw in. Looks like a tidy rig. Blue is best but this one looks good in Red.
Cheers.
Skip.

I would serious look at that bike, as it has all the gear you would want already set up, and a history of being well looked after.
