Help diagnosing this noise...?

(1/3) > >>

SteveR:
Hi guys, this past week I moved the bikes over to the new place, unfortunately a couple required trailer trips . The ST, however, had no dramas at all... except...

On warming up I heard a sound I hadn't noticed before... it's a little concerning as it sounds 'metallic' and 'grating' to me. I'll try to attach a video clip: it appears just after pulling the throttle, on quick revs you can hear it 'wind up' just as the revs are going down, on longer revs it starts up and keeps time with the engine. It 'appears' to be coming from the left side of the engine... I'd really appreciate any insight!

winston66:
Is that a version of the well known Jetson whine (noise).

Yorkie:
That is normal, don't worry about it

SteveR:
Really? I can't say I've ever noticed it before, possibly because I usually have ear plugs which would cut out that higher sound, but still...

Biggles:
Yep, that's the turbo charger winding up and down.  It's louder than mine was, which means yours develops more power.    :thumbs

I thought it was normal, but waited until a couple of real experts confirmed it.    :grin
