ST1300 White Colour
« on: February 17, 2014, 04:52:26 PM »
I am seeking some information please. I have been told that the white ST1300's were Police issue only and that if I purchase a white ST it is sure to have been an ex Police bike.
Is this information correct and if so what would be the drawbacks in buying such a bike?

My main reason is that I wish to customise the bikes paint scheme and a white base colour would make that job easier.
I am looking at year model 2007 - 09.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
 G.

:fp Please don't waste a white one Greg. They are sort after I would think as they are in limited numbers.
Ah yeah. Not around here though.

Mine is the same/similar as Turtle's (SM) and had 39k when bought, with several mod's and full service history.

The bike was destined for the NSWPF but they changed to the Yammie's. (Their loss, my gain)

Poppy Dave's bike was brand new, never made it into service thanks to WAPOL deciding to cut back on their fleet.

Clever buggers got CHOGM to pay for brand new ones about a year or two later...

Can anyone tell me where the best place to buy white paint for the 1300 would be? Need to respray a few bits...
 :wht13

An aerosol would suit best I think

Some one may correct me but ex police white ST1300s have the following non stantard items fitted by Honda
1. Bar Risers
2. Extra switches on the right hand handle bar
3. If you remove the cover from the tip over bar there is an extra bar fitted to mount sirens.
4. Did not have ABS???

I think that super cheap may be able to mix it for you, or Repco, or any auto paint supplier. You just need the paint code.

Here is the list for my white 2006 model

1. Bar Risers
2. Extra switches on the right hand handle bar
3. If you remove the cover from the tip over bar there is an extra bar fitted to mount sirens.
4. They have ABS
5. do not have HISS installed on them ( means no disabling system, but a new key costs about $5)
6. Extra wiring harness under the seat ( for all the extra police sirens and the like)

Wapol bikes have a keyed disabling system. The small key to the left side of the tank. If you turn it so that the yellow light is on, as soon as you put it in gear it will stall.

It looks the same as the ST1100 colour, so that would be it.  Mine must be a bit weather worn as it does not look exactly like Abe's.

Well I will be buggered, I have a WAPol bike, I got itbrand new before they got their hands on it, but I have no HISS, and there is no switch on the left side to disable it.  So it must be a mod the cops do and not Honda.
Cheers,
Mick.

The police model ST1300 don't seem to have the HISS, so you can use normal keys. Less security is probably the downside.
