Hi STimpy,
Please check out the photo for comparison to the original police one in the middle.
With my brackets you will notice that the top portion is longer,  it extends further forward, by approx 45 mm and the holder for the spotlights is approx 10 mm higher than the police issue.
I have done this so as to get extra clearance as would be needed for a larger style after market screen , and or larger diameter lights.
My model for a screen is a V stream , and also a Bike Quip screen which measure approx the same across the wide part of the base as the OEM but the profile is different and moves in relation to the spotlights on the bikes that have the electric adjust .
I could do a special custom job but I would need  a true model to base it on and I have never seen the wind deflectors that you mention.
In my opinion lifting the lights an additional 100mm would not be practical , too much windage causing undue vibration, and would look quite unsightly.

Cheers Winston66

RE: "the top portion is longer,  it extends further forward, by approx 45 mm and the holder for the spotlights is approx 10 mm higher".
The picture must be deceiving, as the mounting tubes at the end of them only look about 10mm further forward and possibly 20mm higher. Your tubing is very thin walled, so will be prone to vibrate/flex more than the Honda items.

RE: "and I have never seen the wind deflectors that you mention".
The fairing extensions are a genuine accessory item - shown fitted to my first ST1300 in the attached image. They add about 15 - 20mm to the height of the mirror surrounds. (see picture)

Regards
John

Hi JC,
Thanks for your comments and the info about the wind deflectors.
You are correct in your suggestion that  the illustration is deceptive,  it is.
When the brackets are held back to back then the difference is more obvious. I guess that I am not a very good photographer, I will attempt to remedy this.
The tubing used  whilst thinner than the OEM article, has a nominal wall thickness of 1.6mm.  is of a high quality steel and requires a lot of effort and a precision bender  to get the curvature  correct. It is very sturdy,I do not think that there will be any problems with vibration at normal road speeds.
I am interested to get any feedback in this regard from the sales that have already been made.
I initially tried  using a thicker wall tube, but was not able to bend it without crushing it and the cost of that particular tube was exorbitant and would  have made the production unviable.
Thanks again for your comments.

When we user to bend pipe, we used to use an oxy-acetylene torch to warm it up at the bend point to prevent crushing or rippling. Warm not hot.
Cheers,
Gary

I have just fitted a pair of the "under mirror" brackets from Motor Cycle Larry and have my Genuine Honda Police Brackets still in the box. The MCL brackets are very neat.
