So by noise cancelling do you mean some form of hearing protection like the Earmoulds Streak mentioned (which are brilliant) or electronic Noise cancelling earphones ?? which are also sensational.....just haven't seen them made for in helmet use :think1

I just use the off the shelf noise cancelling ear buds. Just make sure you get ones with a fairly low profile otherwise the helmet knocks them out when you put it on.

I've used these for over 100,000kms :eek

hey spanner,
Kate & I use 2 different versions of noise cancelling ear phones in our helmets whilst riding. Kate has an R-Jays FF NFOT (full face, non-flippy-open type) & I have a Shoei FF NFOT helmet. We use dual Sena 20S units so that we can talk to each other, listen to music or make/recieve phone calls via bluetooth.
I use the Sena in-helmet speakers as well as foam ear plugs (the same type I wear at work everyday). I first tried using just a set of in-ear headphones, plugged into my 20S unit, but they made my ear canal sore after an hour or so. For me, the speakers/ear plugs combo does the job very well.
Kate uses Philips in-ear headphones ($12 BigW) plugged into her 20S unit. She has created a pair of moulded, in-ear, earplugs using mouldable silicone putty which adheres to anything, sets to any moulded shape and can be blended to create different colours. Cheers. John & Kate.

I mean the electronic ones.
I got some ear moulds made at the Toowoomba rally but they have never worked properly for me. I have to jam them in to get the real noise reduction. I have gone back to the orange ribbed ones I get from a safety store now.

Did you try the alcohol hand gel every time. I kept a little in the tank bag on the last trip and it made a big difference.
-
I havent heard of noise cancelling earbuds.
They would have to have mini speakers and microphones plus the active electronic inverting amplifier module and connecting wiring, batteries etc. They would be expensive.
-
I've got a set my daughter got with a Sony phone. It has a AA battery module and volume control in the lead. Plus a switch to turn the noise canceling on and off.
-
I forgot about those ones, My son got some for a trip to Vietnam. I hate the plugs, they dont fit me properly.
-
They don't fit me well either. Although, I haven't tried the cables over the ears trick for ear buds which I saw on FB last week.

I did but I still had a hard time and frankly I don't want to have to fill up my ear with some gunk trying to get (apparently) high quality ear buds to do the job they are supposed to do.

This is the ones.
I mostly use them on flights, hence the two pin adapter.

I can't use any type of earplugs, as I am prone to ear infections and regularly pop an eardrum which can take a month or two of antibiotic treatment to heal. :H
-
I just use a very cheap set of supermarket ear buds which come with an additional 3 sets of rubber buds so you can choose a size that fits your ear canal opening. I find this blocks out a very high percentage of external noise, some say perhaps too much. I do use an Aldi bluetooth head set for the most part but the music quality through them is not great so resort to the ear buds when i want to 'shut myself away' a bit more and enjoy my music with a bit more quality.
-
I've used them I brought a set of electronic Noise cancelling ear buds in France when travelling back to Aussie. When I got home I tried them on the bike, I must say they worked ok, they run on a AA battery. I eventually broke the plug so I now use earmolds I plug into my Sena 20S.

Where do you get the putty, thinking of doing same for "she who must be obeyed"
