My enthusiasm for all things motorcycle has increased recently (New bikes tend to do that to you) and I got to thinking that my riding skills could probably do with a touch up. Have any of you participated in a training program that you could recommend? I am most interested in cornering and braking techniques. I have no desire to be the fast 60 year old on the block. I would be looking at something in S.E QLD, or , I am happy to travell to Sydney.Any Ideas?
Cheers

Stay Upright run excellent advanced riding courses at Eastern Creek in Sydney. I did their one day course at the age of 66 and can thoroughly recommend it if you had a hankering to come South http://www.stayupright.com.au/advanced-i-skills-course

Thanks, thats what I was looking for, some first hand knowledge. I have family in Sydney, so thats a good option for me.
Care to elaborate on how the course went, did you improve your skills, was it intimidating etc etc

They do them at Mt Cotton also. $300 for a Thursday night and all day Saturday. I've also done the HART level 3 there.
Not intimidating. A good course (i.e. road) and capable trainers.

This training is run by my old Paramedic instructor - Paul Riley - who rode as a motorcyclist Paramedic in Sydney. He is currently running the new riding course for Vic Paramedics. I recommend him whether your new to bikes or have been riding for a while. He caters to all skill levels and groups Ladies together for country trips to increase confidence in their riding.
He is a nice bloke to boot. If you want a seriously good training course then SkillMaster is the one. :wink1

It certainly was not intimidating it was more exhilarating. The first hour was spent in lecture mode then all the bikes were divided into three groups. Fast, medium and slow. (You choose)
There is no overtaking but, as long as you choose the group you are most comfortable in (I chose medium) it is not an issue. A feature of the day was a solo ride around the track with one of the instructors riding behind you observing. They tell you to ride as fast as you safely can. After a circuit you wheel in and the instructor gives you one on one feedback. In my case it was cornering and braking. It improved my road craft out of sight.
