I think its time I admit defeat, Time to give up.
I started a new med on Friday and was given warnings how it would effect me. today day 4 of the new drug, I have found another side effect. Loss of strength. I took the big pill with food this morning and the thing got stuck in my throat, so I have a bad chemical taste and a burning throat... YUK
I had to go across to Penrith today and thought I'll ride, its a nice day  when I backed the bike out of the garage and down onto the grass to turn around, as I went forward  I slowed down between the house and car  went to put my foot down and it went into a 2in divert in the corner of the cememt and over Stranger went. I wasn't strong enough in my left leg to hold it up and gentle helped  it  down knocking the blinker/mirror cowl of and resting on the house against the HID. a second look after taking pics I BROKE the HID  :||||

I tried to pick the bike up but its on an incline so past the point of my uprighting it. I busted my belt in trying.. luckily I didn't bust my foo foo valve.( or is that POO-POO valve.
(http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy22/Johnny_Whitehead/2015-11-30%2012.03.28_zpsmivnsvxl.jpg) (http://s774.photobucket.com/user/Johnny_Whitehead/media/2015-11-30%2012.03.28_zpsmivnsvxl.jpg.html)
As I haven't been able to gain weight for a long time and my weight is under 60kgs I think its time to give up riding and sell Stranger or replace him with a lighter lower bike, OR JUST CONCEDE DEFEAT.  :think1  Should I pay the rego and insurance  on 30/12 or save it and sell Stranger Cheaper..     I don't know what other side effects are to come, there is a big list and Psychological issues is of high concern they say.. will anyone really notice if I am going insane,, I think I'm already there.,  :crackup   Other things like Lactic Acidosis, you may feel very weak or tired you may have unusual (not normal) muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pains with nausea and vomiting, you feel dizzy or lightheaded.. Serious Liver problems, Kidney Problems, Allergy, Pancreatitis, Changes to Bone density, the list goes on.  so maybe I should stop riding all together.

Do I post here looking for a new member to buy STranger, not that anyone would want him if they read my posts of FAILURES ...
Should I even post this post and embarrass myself further before you all.. well this answers that quandary I have, you've just read this post.
My nephew is coming to the rescue  once again , AT HOME this time   :||||

Very sorry Johnny!  It's a bugger when your health deserts you.     :'(

Just rest assured, they list all those side effects because they have to.  You most certainly won't get all of them, in fact, the loss of strength may be the only one, and that until the meds do their corrective work.

Just pay 6 months rego and see how things go.  You are probably at the bottom of the curve now, so here's hoping for an improvement.
And I'm sure STranger understands and will be waiting for you.      :thumbs

P.S.  I can't lift my bikes either!    :grin

Hi Johnny,
You're on a tough journey and that's a tough turn of events, but when you are feeling down and beaten is not the time to be making big decisions.  My advice would be to hold off doing anything for a little while,  but have a good angry vent with anyone who will listen.

P.S.  I can't lift my bike either!   :grin

On the upside you now know how far you can lean before it hits the deck.....Mate all the best for your journey back to a better, more manageable, level of health .......Cheers Brian

Hi Johnny,

as the others have said, don't make any rash decisions.  Hold off for at least a couple of months and see how you go with adjusting to the meds.  With some luck the side effects may minimise, or potentially you may not stay on them.

Keep your chin up.

Wendy

Sorry to hear this Johnny. Keep at it old mate, things will improve.

I  echo the other sentiments, don't rush into anything right now.

I also can't lift the bike on my own.

Keep going Johnny. I have empathy for your predicament.

Whatever you decide you know we'll always be here for you.

I know your pain Johnny, that is why when mine burnt I haven't replaced it. There are some great mid sized bikes out there (the CFMoto TK650 is a smaller lighter ST) that are still able to keep up on the highway, and much more manageable as we get older/weaker. Give the meds some time to work and see how you go.

Johnny, I'm double your weight (wish I could lose some, but Gadget sends me some oh so irristable fotos) and as I approach 70 I am finding my strength failing and if my bike fell I doubt very much my ability to get it back up and onto the sidestand.

Maybe we follow Streak into the Ssssss . . Strom side or CFMoto alternative . . Either way I feel the need to go to the Gym and go on a LitenEasy Diet!

Wait a while, see how the meds end up, then sell me your bike for $500 . . . .  ;-*

As the others have said give it a little while before making the decision :think1 :think1
And remember that whatever choice you make, or bike you ride, you are part of the OzSTOC family and are always welcome here :thumbsup

What everyone has said is good. Dont make a quick decision.  A little time may help you work out treatments and side effects.. Hopefully you will be able to still ride

Do you need a trailer if you have a sidecar?
My long term plans are to fit a side car to my wing. Theresa would still travel on the pillion seat leaving the sidecar to carry luggage, a fridge and oh yes a coffee machine for Theresa. First I am looking at a sidecar training day with Ural.
If I had space for this 250 cc unfit I would be having a very serious look at it, even so I may still have a look at it.

Well either of these would pull a trailer with ease:-

I had the Royal Star Tour Deluxe, same running gear as The Venture above but with out all the fruit. Hi kms and no reverse but would still be a great unit

Then there is:-
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mirboo-north/motorcycles/1996-honda-gl1500se-goldwing-outfit/1096190493 (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mirboo-north/motorcycles/1996-honda-gl1500se-goldwing-outfit/1096190493)

just need to add a towbar.

Some of us (well me) don't believe it, until we see it.  Pics please Johnny.

In the meantime, have a peruse through this thread on ADVRider - http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/hacks-n-pups.295048/. (http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/hacks-n-pups.295048/.)  If you are not familiar with ADV, it's worthwhile taking into account only around 10% of the posts are worthwhile reading, but you sometimes have to read the useless posts to work that out - it's a bit like NetRider.

Back, on topic, I've been thinking of going down this path and getting a small side car to put on the XT600, but I'm still just thinking, to also take the pooch on some rallies.  He has been camping with us often and LOVES it.

He's a bit bigger now.
(http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/Jedi-the-Wonder-Dog/10481826_10153027548617278_8611272021344185239_n_zpsscwyh8fm.jpg) (http://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/Jedi-the-Wonder-Dog/10481826_10153027548617278_8611272021344185239_n_zpsscwyh8fm.jpg.html)

BTW, not being able to maintain a heavy bike on uneven surfaces is not uncommon, it's happened to me and plenty of other younger and fitter than me.

Hi Johnny,
Sorry to hear about your tip-over. I can relate to the problem having tipped my beloved off a while back under similar circumstances. It certainly does not take much off TDC before the old girl (the bike that is) becomes too heavy for me to hold up. I agonised over lighter bikes etc at the time but soon got over it  :grin I now , however, take a lot more care with park manoeuvres and other very slow speed stuff.
I guess we all have our riding use by date somewhere out there and at 71 I am certainly on that countdown. Only you will know when that is but for my money don't let your little tip-over put you off.

Give your meds a little time to settle down then see how you feel. Keep your chin up and take each day as it comes.

Cheers
Dick

Whats his name?

Jedi the Wonder Dog.  He came to us around 10 months ago, being re-homed by the breeder.  His previous family were have problems with him, we took him on.  Problems?  Easy we thought, he'll be okay.  Well he is, apart from scaling the 1.8m high paling fence.  We put coyote rollers (Google it) on top of 70m of side and rear fences.  That'll stop him getting out  Nope!  He's got out around 20 times now, but he returns every time (by the neighbours, we are getting to know them all).  We are going to have a Return of the Jedi party.

That's turned into a BBD ........ Bloody Big Dog.  I would not think you would have to look after him, it might be a case of him looking after you.
