while i was in Esk today going for a ride with Teela, i met a fellow who has a CTX1300, has had it for about 12 months, so i thought i would have a chat to him about his thoughts.

He started with he would have bought an ST1300 if they where available at the time, he did some test riding of different bikes, but really wanted the comfort factor, he said his only negatives for this bike was the standard screen (usless), so he put the touring screen on and is really happy, and he finds the front suspension heavy and doey, so he has had all the forks redone with different springs and the like.
he regularly rides 700km plus days, and he says the seat is the best thing since sliced bread, he offered me a sit on it so i did, and whatever mongrels designed the ST1300 seat obviously had nothing to do with this one, as it is shaped, the foam is a touch softer, and you dont feel like your going to bag into the tank.

Panniers are 35L which are the same size as the ST1300.
it is a much better bike in real life than in the Honda advertising i must say.
just thought people might be interested.

And normal handlebars for hanginging things off too. :clap
Thanks for sharing mate. :thumb
I'd have to consider this bike when STella goes out to stud, and will definitely take one for a ride.

Great fundamentals. Pity it needs mods just like the ST1300 does; in this case, the forks and windscreen.
Still can't get excited about the shape of the front- there's not a line on that which I like. The panniers look OK and it's an ST topbox.
Looks like they decided analogue instruments were the go after stuffing up the ST's display.

Good fotos Streak. The CTX1300 sure does have some retro/bagger/cafe racer traits and the new owner has added lairey blue led's as well. The red stripe on the wheels is stylish tho - might treat Wyvern 2 that 1 - he thinks more red is HOT!
And the highlight of the whole thing is the beautiful donk. :H

Great info. :thumbsup I had a sit on at the Perth Show last Month. The only question I have is how hot does that exhaust get being exposed and directly in front of your legs :think1 Great for winter. :grin

From memory, when I took a look at one in the show room, the chrome exhaust from the block is a "cool" skin around the real pipes. Possibly insulated as well. I think the engine block and the radiator heat might be the real issue.
