I will need new tyres soon and was thinking metzler z8 as I like my z6 ones but metzler don't do a 160/70/17 would a 160/60/17 make a huge difference in bike handling and rpm increase i also read on the forum no pr3 size also
-
Unfortuately, there are no z8s for the front wheel. Michelin cant decide if they have the front tyres or not. I ended up with Bridgestones BT023s. The main problem is getting the right tyre for th front, as it drives the speedo and you want that correct.
The bigger rear drops the revs ar 100ks by 100, so no biggy, at least thats what my calculations show
-
The 160/60 is actually smaller than the 160/70 in terms of circumference, so more revs at the same speed compared to a 160/70. Only a slight amount not woth worrying about. The bike will sit a little bit lower to the ground, be a bit more upright on the sidestand and be a bit harder to put on the centrestand. I have used the 170/60 rears with no issues, but the points I have noted apply to the 170/60 as well, but the 160/60 is more pronounced.

What Saaz says, 160/60 tyre is ok (I've used b4), but I think the 170/60 tyre being a fraction wider might be the better way to go.
The only standard tyres available for the 1100 over here at the moment are:-

Personally, I plan to use either of the tyres available in the recommended size - BT023 or Storm 2 Ultra. I'l try the BT's first, since they are the cheaper of the 2 - I'm not really a fan of Bridgestones to be honest but I'll give them a go.
I used Avons on my FireBlade including the Storm 2 Ultra and found it to be a good tyre.

I have just fitted PR3 both front and rear to my 1100.
rear = 180/55 ZR 17
front = 120/70 ZR 18
Ordered from Jakes in the states. And I am as happy as a pig in poop...so to speak :runyay

I would be interested as well, as if it works opens up some possibilities as there are GT versions of the 180/55 around

Tipsy is your bike and ABS model ? Mine is not ABS So no 120/70/18 for me think I have to stick to 110/80/18
-
What do you guys think 110/80/18 Michelin pilot road 2 ct and 170/60/17 Michelin road pilot 3
2 sets from jake Wilson $648 estimate
Any better ideas don't like Bridgestone so rule them out

If you have the time to wait for the tyres then go for it. I didnt have that luxury, and had no choice but to go for the Bridgestones (BT 023), so far they are working well.

I only ordered one tyre from them on the 14th of March and it arrived yesterday and I fitted it today. So provided the tyres are all in stock they will ship together and time frame should be about the same.
-
That combination should work fine. I have used/am using 120/70s on the front and they work ok as well if push comes to shove.
