Title: Motorcycle loading and Unloading made easy
Post by: kappy5003 on January 21, 2016, 01:04:18 AM
Hi Guys

Haven't been in for a while.

Just getting passed some hurdles.

As I live in an area where I have to travel over up to 12 k's of barely average to downright crappy gravel road.

So I fabricated a means of transporting  my new ride to blacktop in up market transport.

I have to concede my inspiration for this goes to Yorky, I expanded on his efforts.

Very cool!  But there's many ways to skin-a-cat ......

When my ST1300 was returned from the motorcycle crash repairer, it was delivered in a modified Renault (I think) front wheel drive.  The mods involved the rear floor of the van to be lowered to ground level, and the bike just rolled out.

HI ST2UP,

Yes the winch has a remote plus a main switch.

Less that $100 from ebay, 3 tonne winch so they claim, seems to work OK, gotta run the engine elsewise it flattens my aux battery.

Cheers Kappy

Excellent job! Well done.
I would look at making the trolley hinged so that it flexes at the top of the ramp, otherwise can't fault it.

Well done Wayne, the trolley doesn't need to be hinged as the front rides up until it has weight on it, I strap the front wheel to the front of the trolley, Wombat gave me a boat winch which didn't pay out, I am happy with the hand winch.

I agree Yorkie each side of the the trolley has 5 bearing nylon wheels so any stage of the operation there at least 4 wheels in contact with the ramp etc,the front wheel is strapped to the housing so the trolley actually pivots with front wheel.

Still some fine tuning etc, once its down pat then out comes some paint.

After I posted this on HD Australia Forum a guy displayed his design that he did 5 years ago, wish I had a seen that, he uses small profile channel, that has the head ticking for a hydraulic system.
