Hi - there is a wealth of knowledge from the guys (and gals) on this site - so lets test the water with CC's (Cruise controls). I have found a site selling a reasonably priced unit in the US.
http://www.amazon.com/Audiovox-CCS100-Universal-Vacuum-Control/dp/B00029WQTW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332059647&sr=8-1#productPromotions (http://www.amazon.com/Audiovox-CCS100-Universal-Vacuum-Control/dp/B00029WQTW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332059647&sr=8-1#productPromotions)
and have found instructions on how to install:
http://www.frontiernet.net/~st1300rider/05-16-05/ecc.htm (http://www.frontiernet.net/~st1300rider/05-16-05/ecc.htm)
US$185 inc delivery. Not bad. Soo....
Has anyone purchased this model of CC (Audiovox-CCS100)? I believe this is a universal model so can be installed on car to. Has anyone installed this or another model on their STeed, how straight forward was it? Any words of wisdom :-++ appreciated.

WhenI purchaced my ST1300 last year it came with a prevously installed cruse controll from Motor Cycle Cruise, Ph.3 9808 2804
Motorcycle Set Up Pty. Ltd,
6 Kingston St Mount Waverley Victoria 3149 , mesetup@bigpond.net.au
I do not know if these contact details are still current
The installation manual is dated 20/june/2003 so I am presuming that they are still operating and in business
As far as i am concerned the device is working and operating as set out in their manual the bike has done 105,000 klms .
I do not know when the C/C was fitted but I have found that it is easy to operate and does a gteat job.
They might be worth checking out,

Heres the site/page for the cruise control, and everytime I look at this the price seems to keep going up.

There is this one from Rostra which is really for a car but some have fitted to bike, some links provided. Uses speed sensor from vehicle which might be ok for a 1300.

and installed on a VN 900........won't hurt to see what he did.
Whoops!!!! I forgot the VN 900 link

It should be relatively straight forward, just depends how confident you are about the install. I have done a few cars with a similar kit and you just have to take your time. The McCruise comes with tailor made connections and the throttle cable interface, but otherwise a generic install is similar except the bit about how you connect the throttle cable. A kit which uses the ignition as the speed sensor would be better, as would one that used an electronic unit rather than the vacuum one. Unfortunately we seemed to miss out on the really cheap prices when some of these generic units were run out.
I have the McCruise and it works great.

Hi Thanks for that :thumbsup - this is good advice to me. OK it seems the vacuum models are old technology but work fine, but the electronic forms are a better choice for the ST13 in any case. The price of $240 USD (for the Rostra mentioned below) seems reasnoable to me so the only concern i have is with the wiring and connections. (I was an electrician in a previous incarnation so) the electrical side of things is not a concern, its just the question of whether there is enough info (photos , step by step instructions) out there for the ST13 - or is the install 'generic' enough between bikes that settings (of dip switches, connections to the ST's wiring assembly) is pretty well the same (as the 'Concours' example mentioned on Murphskits.com with steps, photos, advice, given), or there is enough info around to get me through.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance :-++
