Title: Lottery Scam
Post by: alans1100 on May 13, 2016, 09:03:17 PM
I had a to good to be true surprise in the mail today.

Two scratch and win lottery tickets; from Malaysia. A scam one of course but the $US180,000 (about $AUD247,000) that we supposedly won would have come in handy.

Supposed to phone them to claim the prize (but we don't have international dialing on our phone) so sent email. Still have to phone them to claim so I blocked the sender and marked their reply as spam.

I get several of these type of unwanted Postal garbage things each year, some addressed to 'The Householder', and some bearing my name...the most prolific being the 'Readers Digest' type , where they send a scratchie ticket, or a key, and tout you as being a winner. Unfortunately for them, my garbage bin is just one step away from the mailbox.

'PLINK!'

The email reply I got from the scammers I forwarded (also included the email headers) on to the Malaysian Cybercrime unit.

We used to get the Readers Digest ones but Magnamail also does similar which we have bought an item or two from over a couple years.
