Title: G'day folks from Glenalta SA
Post by: Langers on June 05, 2016, 10:52:46 PM
Hello, I am a new owner of a 2008 ST1300 (all of two days new for me). My name is Mark Langman, most of my mates call me Langers, or Mark - I'm not fussed. My biking history began back in the early 70's with a BSA Bantam (not road registered) with my first modern (?) bike being a Yamaha DT175, soon followed by a Honda XR250. Sadly bikeless from the mid 80's through to the late 2000's (family responsibilities etc) then the urge grew too strong and I bought a 2004 VT750 Shadow. I've really enjoyed that bike then in March this year a mate and I rode to Byron Bay for the Bluesfest. My mate had a Moto Guzzi Norge (red of course and a truly beautiful bike) and during the ride I realised I needed something with a little more get up and go for long distance riding, hence the ST1300, which, as luck would have it is the same colour as the Shadow - Candy Apple Red I think is the correct name. I've kept the Shadow for now, I'm sure I will be under pressure from the Treasurer to get rid of it, I'll just have to see how long "Yes Dear" will keep it in the shed.
Looking forward to catching up with as many members as possible over the journey. I note there is a RTE to Paringa this coming Saturday. As luck would have it I'll be travelling to Loxton on Saturday (Julie's Mum lives there and we will be visiting). Hopefully I can arrange a leave pass to pop up to Paringa for lunch.
Kind regards ... Mark

Welcome Langers!  You're right into the spirit of things with a Candy Glory Red 2008.  My third ST was a 2009 version, and I'm between STs at the moment, but have one lined up in Traralgon- identical to yours.  We do allow other colours in here, but they suffer terribly from envy and inferiority complexes.
Your Missus needs to understand the two bikes serve different roles.  Then she'll insist you keep both.     :thumbs

Hi Lagers and welcome to OzSTOC from a fellow member just down the road at Eden Hills.    :hatwave
We have a Ride to Eat (RTE) at Paringa near Renmark on the 25th June and it would be wonderful if you could make it.

Thanks very much for the warm welcome. Speaking with Julie tonight (the smarter one of the two of us) I'm ok to head to Paringa from Loxton and she will join me on an OzSTOC trip once I have a few more miles under the belt on the new chariot. Probably sensible I suppose (Julie knows me better than I know myself), plus her mum is not well so it is better she spends her time with her mum (Julie will be heading up to Loxton in the Jetta).
I spoke with the previous owner of the ST last night and have to say I am really happy with the purchase and looking forward to the run into the Riverland.
Thanks again... Mark
