Hi, Peter is my name, I live in Sydney and have probably jumped the gun as, at this stage, I am looking to buy a ST1300. I currently own a 2008 BMW R1200RT with 172k on it and previously had a Honda CBR1000. Over the last few months I have missed out on two ST1300's that were either withdrawn from sale or sold on the day before my inquiry.
I am retired and have completed a few IBA rides and FarRides where I have met a number of OzSTOC members. I am looking forward to getting a ST1300 and catching up with more of you in the not too distant future. In the meantime I will check out the forum for all things ST.
-
Welcome aboard Knave, hopefully it won't be long until you find a STeed to suit your requirements.
I'm guessing you are looking for a bike with cruise control and other farkles to make IBA & FarRides a bit more comfortable :grin

The main thing that I am after STimpy is low kilometres and a year model of 2008 or later. I will farkle it up over time.

G'day Knave, welcome to the forum :hatwave

Hi Knave and welcome to OzSTOC from SA. :hatwave I trust you find a suitable ST soon.
-
G'day Knave. You have to beat Onsie (JGlan) to the 2nd hand ones.
If you've got deeper pockets, I think there is still a brand new white Police model at Tooeoomba Honda. Under $20,000.
-
Hi Knave. Welcome. Good luck with the search

You just missed out on a cracker from Aussieboy. See http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=10885.msg1203382#new (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=10885.msg1203382#new)
I think he traded it at a dealer, so perhaps you could PM him and find out where it went. It's a beautiful, well maintained ST with all the fruit for touring.

Welcome to the Forum, Peter.
Excellent choice of FarWeapon! Plenty of expertise in this Forum, and quite a few of us doing FarRides and IBAs, as you are well aware. The ST rivals the Feejer in this class, but it's more touring oriented, less sporting, hence I believe, better suited. True it hasn't been developed the way the Yamaha has, but it is a solid bike to modify to your needs. I've done it to 3 ST13s now. There are a few excellent suppliers of the specialty bits you'll need.
There are a few of our number in Sydney- check out the Member Map and RTE announcements.

Welcome On In Knave :clap

Welcome Peter....enjoy the forum mate and the search for a new STead. There are OzSTOC members all over the county side who would take a squizz at a perspective ST for you.
Being a FarRider and IBA member low K's would be towards the top of your list.... :nahnah
Welcome again.
Cheers

I saw the add Onesie. However, one of my criteria is that it must be at least a 2008 model.
-
Good afternoon mate and welcome to the friendliest forum
At the moment there are ten 2008 models or better for sale with less than 40k , some much less .... it just depends on how much you want to spend ..you can't go wrong
I like the look of a couple in Tassie , and yes they can be gone when you call as some adds are getting old

I still have my search list.
Here's my pick- some may have sold.
Just put the ref number in the search box.
Don't let the distance away bother you- there are really wonderful knowledgeable people here and on FarRiders only too will to check bikes out for you.
Then you get to do a SS1600 fetching it. What's not to like?

Thanks for the info Biggles. Two of them are on my list and two have been sold. I had emailed the Tassie one but he is currently on holidays. An interesting one on your list is the one that Onsie suggested in Goulburn. Nice low kays and appears in great condition as well as having NSW rego. However, the 2005 year model is my concern. My Beemer is a 2008 model and I didn't really want to go any earlier than that. I am also looking at another and discussing rego with the owner. As you say, it really doesn't matter where the bike is. A big ride home (and a ferry trip)would be great.
-
great to see you pop in here Knave, enjoy your time here on the forum :beer

There are new ones popping up all the time on those two sites.
Even some of the dealer ones are well priced with attractive features.

It has taken a few weeks but I am now officially an ST1300 owner. I picked up a 2009 model from Tassie on the weekend. It has 25,000 kilometres on the clock and is probably the cleanest bike that I have ever seen. I am looking forward to catching up with other members on future OzSTOC rides.

Ah yes, it was a Taswegian. The first farkle the southerners put on, as was the case with my Victorian clone of Knave's sweet Candy Glory Red.
You've done everyone a favour Knave- pulled a red ST13 out of cold storage by bringing it north, helping out the Tas economy with your hard-earned, and yourself, getting a top bike in immaculate nick.
-
Congrats Knave. Red I'm told are the faster ones....lol but really as long as it gets you there and back safely.
-
Nice, welcome to the club. 25,000 isn't even worn in yet, put 20,000 on mine in last year and at at 33,000 km it is starting to finally loosen up
